Police Arrest High School Football Coach Accused of Punching Player

Lake Oswego police arrested a volunteer Lakeridge High School football coach Tuesday evening, accusing him of punching a 17-year-old player in the face during practice.
Michael James Cole, 28, a former Lakeridge athlete who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 265 pounds, was arrested at his home in Lake Oswego and booked into the Clackamas County Jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was released Wednesday after posting a 10 percent deposit against bail of $11,000 and is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 24 in Clackamas County Circuit Court.
Witnesses identified the player as Marqueese Royster, an African-American student who transferred from Lake Oswego High School to Lakeridge in 2011 after he was targeted by racist messages from anonymous Twitter accounts. Royster recently committed to play football for Portland State. Royster declined medical attention for a cut and swollen lip. He and his family could not be reached for comment.

That's fricked up.
But one time when I a senior, my offensive line coach didn't like the way practice was going. He was a behemoth of a man standing about 6'5 300 pounds and he could still bench press 400 pounds easily.
He hit me in the face mask with the palm of his hand and I hit the ground instantly. Then he picked me up by the pads and held me in the air and then threw me all while yelling cuss words and other mean "I hope you become a better football player" phrases.
I'm 5'7 and was 200 pounds at the time. My friends and I laughed about it after practice, but that really was kind of fricked up.

Your coaches hit you while your arms were pinned behind your back?
My coaches were pretty old school (mid '70s time frame) and even they didn't pull shite like that. That coach sounds like a huge pussy to hit a kid being held by others.

fourth degree assault? why in the hell does assault need that many degrees? things are pretty bad when disorderly conduct has degrees. i mean it's either disorderly conduct or it's not. this country is so full of bull shite right now. we have taken the best legal system in the world and tied it in knots whre it barely functions and not very well at that. sometimes i think Singapore has it right.
