Lady brass got to shoot for her first time. Took her a couple of magazines to get used to it, but ended up doing fairly well. Her biggest problem, is anticipating the shot, and shes pushing to compensate for the kick, that and her taking the gun off target after she shoots...just needs more practice though.

She shot a S&W Bodyguard 380, a Sig 2022 9mm, 300 black out, and 9mm colt 1911. I was going to take a picture of her with the colt, but it would fail to eject after the 3rd shot all day, so once it jammed up, she put it down and grabbed the Sig.

Yeah I figured you guys rather see the pictures of her shooting than my bearded self.

Although I'm pretty damn good looking.

Yeah, I'm not sure wtf was up with it, it would fire, then just fail to eject the round when it cycled, and try to fee another round. I would clear it out, and fire 2 or 3 more shots then bam, the same thing would happen. Not sure if its a magazine issue or something more serious, but I didn't have any other magazines to try out.

Pics or GTFO.

Congrats on getting your wife into shooting! All it takes is one range visit and they are usually hooked!

EDIT: Also good on you for teaching her proper form. No teacups to be found!

Yeah, she liked it, I warned her about wearing sandals/flip flops, but she wore kind of a low cut shirt, which she will not do again.

She asked me why I didn't tell her anything about her shirt, and I just told her "some lessons are better hard learned."

Nice! I've heard good things.

What's the cost to shoot? And do they frown upon shooting steel? I would assume they do like most ranges do.

As she gets more comfy teach her to get a little sideways instead of squaring up. Much smaller target if someone is shooting at her.

About 16 bucks all day and you can leave to like eat or something, and come back if you want.

There were several guys that had steel targets when I was there. They also have some good prices on guns from time to time. I bought my little 380 bodyguard there and havent found it cheaper anywhere else, online included.

Yeah, this is all my doing. While I was active duty and then in law enforcement for a short while after, had me squaring up since that's where the body armor would be.

Were they provided by the range or brought by the guys? Any idea?

I've been wanting to find another range to pop my steel at rather than going to Sherbourne where it is frowned upon.

Pretty sure they brought their own, one guy had a spinning target for his grandson to shoot his 22 at, and another guy had a larger standing platform.

Side note:

You have any idea what the deal was with my 1911 failing to eject?

Well if you were getting a malfunction around the same point in the magazine every time, I would assume it's a mag issue. I saw that you said you only had one mag, so it could very well be that.

If it isn't the mag, maybe the recoil spring is worn.

That's a very odd malfunction. Fingers crossed it's just the magazine.

Yeah, it was every 3 rounds or so.

I bought the gun used, so it very well could be the spring though.

I'll have to see if I can find another combat commander 9mm magazine online reasonably priced.

If 9mm 1911 mags are anything like the 45 ACP mags, I would imagine any 9mm 1911 magazine would work.

Check Wilson and Chip McCormick. I bet they have some stuff available.

I wonder if someone has taken it upon them to save all the pictures that us OBers post of our SO's shooting. It would provide for a funny thread
