Here's basically what the Louisiana law says
-you can drink underage if with parent/guardian at a private non-alcohol selling property (ie. people's houses. Doesn't even have to be their house)
-you can drink underage in a private, non-alcohol selling property WITHOUT parental knowledge or presence (same thing, you parents don't have to know about it though)
-you can drink underage in a public, alcohol-selling property with parental knowledge and presence
Pretty much, the only time you can't drink underage in Louisiana is in a public, alcohol-selling property without your parents. So you can't go to a restaurant without your parent/guardian and drink- everything else is fine

My first trip to Bourbon was when I was 13. They let me in every bar with my Dad. Just said I couldn't leave his side.

I could go into Walmarks blind folded and my grandkids could take me to mammy and pappy's favorite aisle and put what we needed in the grocery cart. They are 4 and 7.
I think a little disgression on the part of the nazi liquor police could of avoided that blow up. They would problably throw half of Tiger stadium out, and they don't even sell booze in TS.

I mean really what ever happened to a warning in such a situation. They didn't do anything wrong here and if they simply told them they rather not have the son holding a beer, I am pretty sure they will comply at that point.. but kicked them out because he was holding it for a brief moment. Come on.

When I was 20 and a student at LSU, I went to the Washington game in Seattle. Drinking with your parents there was a huge "no no". LSU Alumni Assoc had a bar rented out and I had to stay in a fenced off area opposite side from the actual bar. Nobody under 21 in Seattle is allowed in bars, even if it's part of a restaurant. Then my parents tried slipping me a beer at dinner and we were threatened to be asked to leave if I didn't give the beer back. It was ridiculous.

I love Louisiana if not for its alcohol laws alone.
Went to a concert recently out West and saw several kids being handcuffed by under cover cops for drinking in the parking lot (nothing more, causing no trouble to anyone). Turned to my wife and said that is one thing you will never see in Louisiana.

It's unfortunate that neither side said whether the kid took a sip or not. If he did not, then the dad would have been smart to emphasize that.
But it's just another example of the effed up laws in Arizona. That state sucks.
It's good to know that a lot of states have very reasonable laws (it's OK to drink with parental supervision). LA seems a bit too lax, but I guess it's a fun place to grow up.
