I personally dont believe it was just an unforunate situation. Guys tackle low all the time, especially when the guy is a big guy. I would blame Tannehill more than the Texans db, if I had to blame someone.

You see that type of hit on TE all the time. Sucks he got hurt but I don't think he was going out to hurt him

Not dirty. I blame the ridiculous rule changes forcing players to tackle low or be fined. You'll see a spike in these types of injuries until Sarcastaball is fully installed as a Football replacement.

Its one thing to go below the waist...its another thing to go for the knees. He went for the knees.

Nope.

And you're going to see many more injuries like this as defenders start to go lower avoiding the absurd personal foul penalties.

They'll probably ban these hits too. Further ruining the sport...

kinda rich that an ohio state (hartline) would cry foul, when they did the same shite to mcgahee in the bcs title game a few years back.

no.

1. The rules force him to

2. Troy Polamalu has been making that same hit his whole career without anyone saying anything.

So Troy was making that same type of tackle way before the rule changes? But the rule changes are "forcing" this guy to make this tackle? BS...I think the rule changes suck like everybody else but like I, said that DB makes that hit with or w/out the changes. Didn't have the guts to go any higher (mid section to shoulder pads)

Well he can't hit him up high anymore. Where else was he supposed to hit him, considering the size differences?

I was waiting for a USCe fan to put him in his place after calling Swearinger a pussy and not going to ever hit anyone high

So your saying he woulda hit him high had the rules not been in place? Even with the size difference?

I love the people saying he should just hit him in the shoulder pads. So many big (legal) hits are incorrectly flagged these days that I don't really blame any defender for going low.

Perfectly legal and even pre-high hit rules this was a common tackle technique. Dustin Keller is a big guy, Swearinger gives up at least 30 pounds to him. Hit him low, and get him down.

I've seen very few shoulder pad hits that were incorrectly call in the open field. The
vast majority of blown calls I've seen are QB hits.

James Jones said he doesn't fault DB's for hitting low when they are taught not to hit high. He also said he'd rather get a concussion than blow out a knee any day of the week and he hates the rule change.

I don't see why anyone would expect someone to body tackle a 6' 5" player in the trunk of their body when they have momentum built up.

No, I don't think anyone is saying it is either.
