Mossberg 930 Series of Shotguns???
Posted by TexasTiger on 8/20/13 at 12:53 pm00
Anyone here shoot one...are they a good value for there price point?
Was thinking maybe a 20ga for my daughter for bird hunting.
If not what can you recommend...close to the same price point...light recoil..and semi auto.

I haven't shot the 20 gauge (I do own the "Jerry Miculek" Model 930 in 12 gauge), but there will be very few gas-operated guns of similar quality at that price.
With Mossberg, there's a greater chance of having a problem (that would require factory warranty service) than you would encounter with a Beretta, Benelli or Browning. (But with all those guns you'll be paying for that reliability factor.) But it's a lot of gun for the money.

the youth model 20 ga weatherby auto is a much better option

I wasn't a huge fan of the 930 until I saw that Miculek uses one for competition. While he obviously gets paid to use it and endorse the brand, the fact that he uses it with success has to hold some merit.

I don't like Mossberg's tang safety and therefore do not like Mossberg shotguns.

It's one of the reasons I am looking at the Mossberg. My daughter is left handed and I also shoot left handed I really like the location of the safety on my BPS because of that.

I've got the 930 and the 935
Both have cycled 2 3/4 6 shot withOut issue. I've put less than 100 rounds thru each tho.
Sorry
