Lets talk about storing coffee

Now, I know this is the TD.com FDB board. So, I know most people know a farmer in Colombia, who supplies them with the freshest coffee beans on a daily basis.
But how do you store this coffee? I store mine (ground) at room temperature. I feel the fresh 'smell' is gone after about a week using this method, though. I used to throw mine in the fridge, though, but I don't do this anymore. I know of some people that throw it in the freezer, but I have never done this.
A. Room Temperature
B. Fridge
C. Freezer

Room temp, air tight...just the way I bought it.

Whole bean, vacuum sealed.
Cold brew it in the summer, so I go through it quickly.

I have the Community Coffee Fresh O Later, one of three that my mother received as a wedding gift in 1954. I buy two large Community Coffee Breakfast Blends every other week and that's all I keep, in a cabinet over the coffee pot.
If I buy so special whole beans I never buy more than a pound.

farmer in Colombia,
Colombian coffee is crap.
I have Jamaican Blue Mountain Special Reserve Elite flown in and hand delivered by a real Jamaican. I have a special vacuum sealed pressure chamber inside a custom made coffee cellar that keeps the beans at the perfect temperature and humidity. I use a handcrafted swiss made grinder. I grind the beans in the cellar.

Room temp for what I'm using this week...airtight, whole bean. Next weeks supply, airtight, in the freezer. Don't usually buy much more than two weeks supply at a time.

I buy the whole beans once a week. I go to Whole Foods, but most decent sized grocery stores have at least some whole beans. I grind the beans at home immediately before using.
Small grinders aren't expensive. You can pick up a decent one for $20-$30.

I re-use one of the cafe du monde tin containers.
Also throwing coffee in the freezer kills it, especially whole beans.

buy enough whole beans on Sundays to last me the week. grind half on Sunday night and put in a cupboard (i.e. - room temp) in a burp-sealed plastic container. then grind the other half on Wednesday night and repeat. also always have some Cool Brew in the fridge.

With a vacuum sealer room temp, without freezer time.

As long as you are going to get it packed in by a mule, don't you think your profit margin would be better with drugs?

That's entirely too many adjectives for my coffee.

This, and cocaine gets me going faster than coffee anyway.

You can store it room temp in the bag as long as it's whole bean. Once coffee is ground, it becomes stale after about 15 minutes.

I beg to differ. Daily espresso drinker, and up to a few weeks in the freezer, I can't tell the difference. Now, if it's been in there forever, it's stale anyway, but that's not the freezer's fault.
For a double-blind, slightly more scientific opinion on freezer storage of espresso roast beans, read here: LINK
