Got about a dozen guys from the mid-Atlantic looking to do a bachelor party around Austin in March. Looking for a ranch that can accommodate all of us that has plenty of pigs, and maybe a few exotics to purchase. I looked at stuff like the 777 Ranch and similar deals, but they appear to be quite proud of their pigs...to the tune of about $1200 for two nights. Anybody have any better ideas? Seems like some place could use a little thinning of the pig heard without trying to make a fortune doing so. Ideas?

I was thinking about this too, but pig hunts will run $750-$1000 (with ammo) per hour from a helo though.

Your best bet is to find a ranch out there that will let you stay and shoot while you pay his liability insurance premium

You joke, but we're certainly down for that. We may spring for the bachelor to get up for an hour or two in a helo (looking into that now), but finding a good place to go is proving much harder than I would have thought it would be.

Wasn't joking really. It was more like a "good luck with that"

I know only one rancher out that way (San Antonio) and he doesn't have em thick like you would want and I doubt he would go for it. You need to find a website where ranchers congregate.

You might also try out BleedingPurple on here, he may not have the means to do it, but he might have an idea of who to talk to

Thanks.

Sometime this fall, during the rut in South Texas, a monster whitetail (150+) is going to poke his head out of the mesquites. He's going to sniff around and think about stepping out broadside, then a pack of hogs is going to tear arse through the cut, knock over the feeder, and take a really nasty shite directly in front of some hard working plant operator in his ground blind who doesn't deserve to have to hunt with a pile of hog shite right in front of him. He works hard. He's better than that, but the hogs don't care that he's an OB Baller. The pigs are going to begin to systematically take over his ranch, forming small sects that wage war on the deer, the hunter, and his family. Next thing he knows, money is missing off the dresser and his daughter's knocked up. Seen it a hundred times...

and that dude is going to wish he had some responsible hunters to come kill all the pigs off of his place while receiving a very decent compensation for a mutually beneficial outcome.

I can not accommodate you but, check out Big Woods on the Trinity. The guy has a great set up and can accommodate your group. March is a great time to hog hunt and there is good catfishing there too along with trap shooting. The bunk houses are top notch and the main house has afull theater, and a game room and the food is fantastic. You will likely be able to talk the owner to taking the bachelor out with night vision equipment to shoot one too.

They are notoriously difficult to get in touch with though so keep calling. They usually do not return calls well.

If that is where you end up let me know so you can tell the owner who sent you.

Not sure if it has to be hog hunt, but if you can wait 2 months you may want to consider 2 nights fishing in Chandaleur islands. This is what we are planning for mine next summer.

Yet again, Wick, you prove to be the man. This was totally the place to go. Put up a post about what I was looking to do and about a dozen different lodges replied and even started a little bidding war, INCLUDING one place outside of El Paso that is throwing in two afternoon quail hunts for blues and gambels at no extra cost. Have most of the places down to 475 per person, including lodging, meals, unlimited hogs and predators, and a few extras.

However, I do feel like I'm in deep shite now, because there are a lot of last minute hunts for sale on there at VERY reduced prices. I mean, if I get a lot of work done today and tomorrow, I could totally be gone for 8 days next week hunting yukon moose, right?
