We run to TX frequently to visit family and I always head to my favorite "hole in the wall" in New Braunfels the first few days to fill up on chorizo-potato-egg-cheese-egg breakfast tacos. I have not found anything in BR that comes close. Any recommendations? Don't send me to McDonalds

Maybe Kolache kitchen on Nicholson near Tigerland. They offer fillings like what you describe, but they're wrapped in a different breading.

La Tiendita has been getting a ton of love lately. Apparently they're some of the best tacos in the state. Haven't been yet, but I'm looking forward to stopping on my way to campus for first home game and throw down on some breakfast tacos.

Fuzzy's are okay I guess. Better than Taco Bell, but nothing spectacular.

I have also read some good things on here about La Tiendita...I think I know where I am going Saturday morning.

They serve breakfast tacos there as well, FWIW:

I love the meaty breakfast burrito from Jack in the Box. Yes, I'm serious. Why you gotta judge me?

Do breakfast tacos use a hard shell? If not what is the difference between that and a burrito?

LaMorenita on Florida and Wooddale.

Best breakfast and lunch tacos around. The pork tacos with the bone in them are incredible.

I've never experienced a breakfast taco that wasn't in a flour tortilla. One is served with top closed.

Hard shells are an american invention.

Kolache Kitchen

I've been wanting to try that place as well.

Also. Don't laugh but I have gotten the breakfast wrap at Waffle House a few times and its pretty good. I have them add jalapeños grilled onions, and mushrooms to the sausage wrap. They make it like a grilled burrito.

Kolache Kitchen experience for me was 'meh'. The breakfast taco's were 'ok' but the kolache I got was not up to par with what you'll find in Houston...which was the whole point in opening up the Kolache Kitchen. Service was poor and food took a while to come out. Will probably not return.

And you can grab a couple for me as well. Coffee + breakfast tacos gets the morning rumbling!

I've never understood the love for kolaches. It's a glorified pig in a blanket. They are disgusting to me. And yes I've had them from the some of the "best" places in Houston. Breakfast tacos on the other hand

And they can be completely different depending on where you get them from. Shipley's is bad kolaches and mediocre do-nuts. For the rare occasion that I have a do-nut craving I will go to Dunkin.

I think I've had them from 3 or 4 places in H-town. One right by your old place, one from that little bagel shop over by Torchy's and a couple other random Mexi joints I can't remember the name of. Just never really GAF for the flavor of any of them.

That places was not good. The coffee was atrocious. I mostly went there because it was the only thing open at 5:30am for my drives to Austin. And I still haven't been to Hot Bagel Shop.

Breakfast from La Mexicana is legit. I like a good huevos rancheros. Sunday mornings hungover sitting on their patio is good stuff.
