Without a doubt, the A-10 was not designed as a fighter. But, in a ground support role, there is none better. I thought the same thing when the pics of bombers started showing up. All great aircraft, just the wrong thread.
I can't argue with the F-16. It's w/t ratio and turn radius is incredible.

Tomcat and Eagle are both phenomenol but different role. Tomcat designed to standoff and engage targets at long distance and can engage up to 6 at a time that is what the RIO is for. Tomcat designed to protect carrier and keep enemy fighters and bombers from even getting close to carrier.
Eagle is an air superiority fighter designed to go any place and anywhere and dominate the sky and outfight anything it dogfights.
If the Tomcat doesnt get the Eagle at a long distance the Eagle wins the dogfight fairly easily.
That was told to me by a Navy fighter pilot at Mirarmar at an air show in the early 90s
