Anyone care to school me on them?

From what I've gathered it's an updated original. It has the flip switch safety, not the push button. Also has bayonet lug.

It's a inland div. rifle (division of General Motors) and in prefect condition. Really wanting to go shoot it right now.

And pics

They're fun guns but good luck finding ammo band when you do get ready to pay out the arse for it.

Which is the reality for most guns in 2013 - just some more than others (which .30 carbine happens to be in that category.)

Sweet gun. Ive also got one from back in the day. My dad killed his first deer with it, and I hit my first deer with it (never found).

Mine has the slotted metal guard up top, I used to think that fricker was a machine gun when I was younger.

Found a 250rnd UMC box for $150 I might go with.

And just found the date on the barrel. February 1944

Very nice i really like the M1 carbine. I have two but they are late models from the 1980's and not original GI. They are a bit more tedious to take down for cleaning but still not that bad. You have to release the barrel band near the bayonet lug to get the forearm off for field stripping.

Ammo isn't that hard to find for them but be aware that modern ammo might be running a slower burning powder and therefore cause damage to the operating rod when used. I would dig up the disassembly/cleaning instructions and thoroughly go through the rifle and clean/lube it (grease, not oil) before trying it out. Don't worry about buying a fancy gun grease for it, a $6 tube of moly bearing grease will be far better than the grease that was originally spec'd for them and last for years of normal use. These guns, like the M1's, shouldn't be field stripped very often when properly lubed as it causes parts to loosen. Maybe once a year/1000 rds.

I have three M1 Carbines and would never shoot this crap (Armscor) in any of them.

M1 or a mini 14? They are very similar but I think the mini has the heat sheild on it.

I'm jealous. I would go to Precision Firearms on Cloverland Avenue in Baton Rouge if you need any assistance. They are very knowledgeable. Happy shooting.

Not a big fan of precision. Brought it by barking irons and it's looking like its good to go.

Im loving how solid the elevation and windage adjustments are.

Need to dust the cobwebs off of it sometime.

Speaking of carbines, I saw a Ruger 44 mag carbine for sale the other day.

Dude want $1000 with no scope for it so I didn't bother to even try to haggle with him.

Not the gun, but the following is an accurate representation.
