Both the top qb's in state to commit to us in their recruiting periods. Clearly have similar play. How do they compare in athletic ability, smarts, leadership, and arm strength.
Who would you pick?

I'm gonna go ahead and say every person who responds will say BH simply because we already saw what JJ did here. And the fact that JJ is one of the most hated LSU players I can ever remember. FWIW, I've always liked Jefferson.

Jefferson was always meant to be a project player. I don't think anyone ever foresaw him being the starter.

RP getting kicked off, hatch getting hurt, Lee being an int machine...

I don't dislike Jefferson because of his play. I dislike him because he had no accountability. Always someone else's fault

You never know how any of these guys will perform until they are starting SEC football games. There have been amazing HS QB's choke at the next level.

JJ was probably more talented a passer coming out of HS. Really doesn't mean much.

4-star/8th ranked pro-style qb is not a project. Rivers is a project, Liggins would have been a project.

How does racism have anything to do with this thread? There's enough of that crap circulating thanks to the media....not on TD please..

It was said multiple times by sources on here that JJ struggled learning the playbook. His athletic ability was never an issue, but there was some disconnect between him and the coaching staff... Some of this was all the changes that were always being made and JJ was an unfortunate victim.

I think BH will be better because of Cam running the offense and CLM staying out of the play calling.

Athletic abilities seem very similar from videos etc.

He was meant to be a project. He got a big time rivals bump after the playoff run. We took Jefferson and molten. We passed on the two best players on that team in damaris Johnson and Jerico Nelson.

This as well.. I think BH will have to work harder than JJ to get playing time with Jennings and Rettig fighting for the starting spot after this season.

This will make BH a better team player in the long run and will help him deal with adversity and appreciate the opportunities given to him.

well, no hate for Jefferson here. I do think he should have had more help in development, and should have probably helped himself more.

but here we geaux...

1. Jefferson was NOT considered a dual-threat when he was being recruited. In fact AR was after him pretty hard and heavy and they didn't do dual-threats.

2. Brandon Harris is a true dual threat. Unknown if he's a "throw first" guy yet. Jennings likely has the skills to be dual-threat, but he is most definitely throw first.

so not much comparison between Jefferson and Harris right off the bat.

3. I venture to say, the coaches that are going to help develop Harris are much better at it than we've had in the past (Cam has a track record here).

4. Jefferson was great to watch run (not throw) on broken plays. On scripted plays, not so much. Having spent much of my childhood watching the likes of Neb and ND run the option it was painful to watch Jefferson run away from the line of scrimmage on option plays. Not flaming Miles, but that's either bad coaching or a lack of practice.

I think BH has a better head on his shoulders and will have an opportunity that JJ never had and that's having an OC who is proven at developing Qb's. I also think that BH will be more coachable.

Harris reminds me more of Dak Prescott in high school than JJ. He is very active in recruiting other players. He's showing a lot of leadership before even stepping on campus, which is exciting.

He was the 4th string QB

He was thought of as very raw

JJ needed better coaching IMO. Harris will get it IMO.

they wanted to redshirt him. Ideally you want any QB to develop for 2 years before starting. But he was seen as a guy who could/would be a starter. He clearly wasn't a "project" in the classic use of the term.
