If he's not liable, and the cops are for making the decision to drive in the other lane, why are you blaming him?

Clearly you are blaming him for something. Which would mean he's liable for something.

well, he's gotten off of his original question of what would happen if someone refused to move or got in a wreck because of cops and bron driving into on coming traffic. it's a non emergency situation. someone refusing to move wouldn't be impeding police business. I mean, how much legal authority does an off duty cop have while escorting a celebrity other than the intimidation factor? they'd be glorified security guards in this case.

and whoever said this isn't using taxpayer money, don't kid yourself. the squad cars, gas, upkeep, etc aren't paid for by lebron.

most likely enough to where a person couldn't block their path intentionally and not face some sort of recourse.

I just want to know where lebrons liability comes in.

He hires the escort, which isn't illegal. Anything after that is on the cops.

I would think the argument for lebron's liability stems from the money. if he's paying the cops, you could argue he's responsible for their actions, just like a police chief would for on duty cops. I'm not going to argue the merit of that argument because I would assume the police chief would still be liable for the off duty cops, not lebron.

jones, I'm not saying lebron didn't pay for the escort, I'm saying he didn't pay for the purchase of the squad cars, tax money did so it's not like this isn't at least a little bit of a waste of taxpayer's money

the money for the escort pays for the use of the cops and the equipment.

choppers can be a hassle. You still have to take a limo to and from a landing pad plus weather is always unpredictable, especially in Miami

You could, it just would be a pretty illogical argument.

the use of it, yes, but taxpayers paid for the car. he's paying to use services paid for by taxes. if a car is damaged or totaled during the escort, does lebron buy another one or do they buy another one with tax dollars?

true but lebron is a taxpayer. probably pays more taxes than 99% of the population.

people getting married or going to funerals rent escorts all the time.

and you could have read the rest of that post instead of taking one sentence out of context to make a hilarious boom. I said you could argue that, but I didn't think it had any merit.

all valid points, which is why I'm not arguing whether this is right or wrong, just pointing out how the appearance of what happened can make people mad.

Lets assume that is actually true.

Did anything happen that Lebron needs to be held liable for?

Was someone hurt, wrongfully arrested or had their property damaged?

No, so the thread is pointless except for op to hate on Lebron.

word.

the reaction from OP is just because of who it is in the limo. if it was some celebrity he really liked and an online article was written on the ordeal, i doubt he would have made a thread
