One of my most prized possessions

My grandfather died in 1996. I was 15. He left me several things. Among them is this.
Great gun!! To this day I can hit a stump across a fifty yard pond with the open sights. I tracked down the serial number once and it was made in the mid 50s. My pawpaw said he bought it when he got home from fighting the communists in korea.
Every time i shoot this gun i think of my pawpaw and even if it was worth a thousand dollars (which it isnt) i would never sell it.

Awesome! Always good to remember the old timers that passed our outdoor knowledge down to us.

That is good stuff right there.
I have a hump back sweet 16 that belonged to my grandfather. It is the only gun I own that money can't buy.

Neat package and story. Thanks for sharing.
I have always kinda wanted a Hi Standard, but never got around to it. Maybe one day.

The holster actually meeds to be redone. The thread has dry rotted but the leather is in great shape. Anyone know anybody that could take care of that in the alex/lafy/lakechuck area?

There is a guy in Sulphur that has a leather shop. I've seen his work and its great, but I've heard he is very pricey. I'll ask around at work...

Pricey is fine so long as its done right.

Sweet pistola.
My mawmaw left me this one:
Damn, grandparents are so badass that they kept the original boxes.
I miss them.
Good thread.

Someone take a guess at approximate make and year

The top one looks like it is from the 1910-1920 era. The bottom, no clue.

My cousin absconded with almost every single one of my Grandpa's guns. Galls me to this day. Grandpa had two male grandsons, you'd think we would have split them. And some cool ones, including a side by side 16 gauge and a .22/.410 over and under my Dad and Uncle used to squirrel hunt with back in the 1930's. My Dad did manage to make off with two. One was a .25 Saturday Night Special my Grandpa used to slip in his overalls when he was going to HS back in Oklahoma, and a Colt Match .22 that looks very similar to the one posted. He swears he can shoot a poker chip through the middle at 50 feet with open sights. I'll get that eventually (no rush Dad) and pass the two on to my two boys.

I like neither Bama, nor beer.
I'm an LSU/whiskey type of guy.
Nevertheless, most of your OB posts are useful.

Fair enough
The shotgun is a Ithaca 16 gauge
Trying to find out more about it currently. My dad took it last year and shot a few doves during the season
