I have some friends that are coming in from San Diego this Saturday for 2 weeks and they want to fish. They are not fisherman but their daughter wants to try. I suggested a good red trip becasue they are badass to catch. They are staying in Lafayette, so I assume the houma area would probably be the closest? Does anyone think differently and does anyone know of some good guides? I know it may be tough finding someone with an opening, but it is worth a try. Thanks.

Bill lake or Marty Lacoste in Dularge.

Yeah, I fished with Lake before but I figured there would be about 0% chance that he has an opening. Thanks.

Travis Lovell is in dularge also...Fishes with Bill Lake some.
I'm pretty sure he has an opening. He is good with novices etc.

Also, has a new Ranger he is running that has tons of room in it.

Yeah but those guys have tons of guides they work with. They don't turn away business.
If they're interested in not catching fish, burning plenty of gas, and possibly getting stuck I'll charter them.

Yea he will know. Ill text him and let him know he will be getting a call referencing me.
From all accounts, he is a jam up guide. Bill has return corporate customers that request fishing with Travis during their big corporate outings.

We have a camp in dularge and fish around that area all the time i would say you best bet is to go with marty lacoste or bill lake. i have fished with both of them, you will def catch trust me.

Here is the thing with marty and bill. Id say 40 percent of their number customers, they send to other guides. Especially during busy season on short notice. Nothing wrong with that but i can name three guides that work out of dularge that will put you on fish same as those guys.
No doubt those guys catch fish but bill has zero interpersonal skills and marty seems to catch more fish than the people he has paying him to catch.
For novices that need a very helpful guide that is going to bait hooks, tie lines, and focus on customer service, there are other good guides out there.
