What books/stories haven't been made into movies that you would like to see?

I really want to see the Coen Brothers direct an adaptation of Stephen King's 'The Stand'. ABC did a miniseries but it just doesn't quite do that amazing book justice.

This is my my favorite book series. I reread it every few years.

There was a movie in the '70s but it wasn't very good.

Royal Flash (YouTube)

I'd love to see it done right as a movie or TV series.

A Land Remembered

Sounds weird and would probably be kinda boring, but it was one of the few books in HS I didn't spark notes and really enjoyed reading. Also is just about the only book i've read that isn't a movie.

I've always wanted to see The Alienist made into a movie... Would be like Sherlock Holmes mixed with Se7en.

I was going to say 'The Giver', but it's being filmed. Jeff Bridges is playing the role "Receiver of Memories" aka "The Giver".

The world will be incomplete without a Lies of Locke Lamora movie. That book was made for the big screen.

I am pretty sure they have tried a few times and failed. Someone correct me but I think bad shite always seemed to happen surrounding the production.

No way they could do that with one movie. It would need to be an HBO series.

The Guns of the South - Harry Turtledove

In the future Afrikaners steal time travel technology and bring enough AK-47s back to outfit the Confederate army. Their hopes are that a victorious and undefeatable south would lead to a White paradise. But they find out Lee isn't the racist leader they wanted.

Was a good book. Though the same author had a 11 book Southern victory series as well, this one would make a better movie. Blomkloof should direct it.

Gates of Fire - Stephen Pressfield

(Instead we got 300, which wasn't bad, but it wasn't realistic. Gates of Fire would have been Thermopylae, but more like Gladiator.)

Heart of Darkness - Joseph Conrad

I know that Apocalypse Now is an adaptation, but I've always wanted to see the story as written on screen not adapted. But because of the success of Apocalypse Now I don't think we will ever see one.
