Cats director announced this increase today, saying that there had been a cut in funding and because of this, the old @4 price would only provide a 20% return. New price is $10 per ticket.

Link?

Here's the actual site: https://www.downtownbatonrouge.org/aroundshuttle.asp

Also, you can get your ticket comped at any bar/restaurant downtown if you just buy a beverage. Best gameday deal in town.

ETA: Quick Google search found the link at the Advocate

Last year I was able to go into Hotel Indego, get a beer, and they comped tickets on the touchdown express for both myself and my kiddo. Didn't pay a dime either way, had a blast, and did the same the year before for the Kentucky game.

So, they have a situation where they can run a few busses on short set routes to a single destination and people ACTUALLY RIDE THEM, they're charging more than normal bus fare and the busses are full to the point that people are standing in the aisle, and they need a grant to account for 80% of their profit?

Either A.) He IS lying through his teeth or B.) these people are far more incompetent than I thought, and that's saying something. OF course, there's always C.) All of the above.

Don't poor mouth, just raise it to $10 and STFU. It's still a better deal than $20 or more to park in someone's yard and walk and far cheaper than parking passes.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if they will do the same considering the increased ticket price?

No sweat. I'm hoping they keep that deal in place, but even at $10 the express beats driving onto campus on Gameday IMO.

Agreed, just for the reduced stress alone.
