What is "boosting?"

I was just playing BLOPS 2 and after a game someone sent me a message saying that I was boosting. They said they recorded it and sent it to Treyarch. What the frick is boosting?

Call of duty terminology:
Hacking: when you make someone mad by killing them a lot.

I'm not down with all the "rock n' roll" and slang the kids are using these days, but I always thought "boosting" meant you were helping your opponent's stats by repeatedly getting killed by them?
But I don't know. I'm old.

That's accurate. And it can also be considered boosting if you're not helping your team but are instead camping somewhere to get some free kills with a gun that's not really appropriate for the map.

Always has been that way. But I assume the original definition was defined above: two or more people in cahoots to let one kill the other in some way or another with the goal of boosting stats.

Well I definitely was not doing that. We were playing hijacked and I was using the S-12 shotgun. I mean I got a lot of kills but I run constantly. Idk what he was talking about.

They were just mad...We all have been called boosters, cheats and hackers from people that that take the game way to seriously.
