After a while they should just label every year this, seeing it seems the news never thinks we have the "right" guy in at all times.

quote:

But, perhaps more significantly, the Tigers seem to be toying with the idea of implementing a package that uses Jennings’ versatility as a complement to Mettenberger’s pocket passing.

Whether Jennings is going to see a few snaps in the season opener against TCU won’t be known until sometime after kickoff on Aug. 31, but it does appear to be a possibility.

Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron wasn’t about to let on about plans for Jennings, and with good reason.

“In an opening game, a true freshman, not that he couldn’t play, but why would you (play him)?” Cameron said. “And strategically, if we were going to do it, I wouldn’t tell you anyway.”

To me thats Cam saying NO, but for some reason the news wants it every year.

What do yall think, keep trying something that never worked for us before, or stick with the guy that has been getting the praise from "his" offense.

ETA: I am not saying someone that can run and throw... I am saying that we do not need two QBs in a game.......

except that time in 2007 when Perrilloux was really effective and complimented Flynn well...

I think les can't resist throwing Jennings out there for a play or two early in the season ONLY to give future opponents extra to gameplan for.

It would have worked great if rp could have kept his head on straight. Rp and his experience in those packages saved us the sec champ game in 07

this is true, but im pretty sure in other games the dual QB system looked great as well for us, but it bit LSU in the arse more than it helped. Dual QB systems does not allow the starting QB to truly evolve his game. Why put a dual threat QB in there when we have the stable of runnings back that we have. Yes maybe next year that will be great, but for now they should commit to one style and stick with it. I mean hell when was the last time CAM had "dual QBs" as staters anyways.

yep. Just think if Jennings only plays 3 plays in the TCU game, non consecutively
- 1st play: hand off to Hilliard on counter play
- 2nd play: deep toss to TE in seam
- 3rd play: QB draw

Then repeat in Auburn game.

what the frick does Perrilloux's career have to do with a thing? Perrilloux was very effective in 2007 for us in the package designed for him. In fact, the fact that he played a bit role in the offense all year is probably why we won the SEC and then the national championship.

Rotating QBs because they suck isn't really a dual QB system.

Lsu won the nc, how is that biting them in the arse? Makes zero sense.

i will give him the SEC championship, Flynn was hurt and did not play at all that game. The in the National championship, Flynn played 99% of the game, Perrilloux had one rush, still dont see dual qb there....

As excited as I am about Jennings, I also think Mett is gonna be much improved and be very good this year. Cam has given him lots of praise and the WR's rave about his maturity.

Jennings will have his packages this year, but this is Metts team.

and without Perrilloux in the SECCG we don't make it there.

frick, you are narrow minded. Look at the entire season. Guy accounted for 10 TDs over the season. 6 in games that Flynn started. And moved the ball on the option very well (especially with Keiland Williams). Just admit that you were wrong and with the right set of guys a dual QB system can be effective.

so the two games where his TDs really helped was MS and VT, then one rushing one for UF(which despite the six carries for 23 yards, he didnt realy do much that game) You point out the games besides the Middle Tennessee game and SEC championship where he played significantly, you cant. Because just like you i am looking at the same stats, so i dont see where it helped us.

P.S. the three games he played in at the beginning of the season were blowouts.

this is true
but, in reality, it did help with the W's. There were games that required a passer to pull out (Fla '10), and games that required a scrambler (Bama '11). If we had only one of those sucky QBs at the time, we don't get both W's.
