So are we gonna spend the Oden $ elsewhere?

Is so, with whom?

We need help at 3 and 5, and here are some options:

SF:

Ronnie Brewer
James Johnson
Devin Ebanks
Mickael Pietrus
Terrence Williams

C:

Joel Przybilla
Cole Aldrich
uh...thats really about it

Anybody see us making another move before the season?

Also, anybody got an exact figure on the kind of money we can still spend this off-season?

what's crazy is that basketball has the fewest # of roster spots than other sports and it still has what seems the fewest # of free agent options every year worthy of the league. THere's tens of tens of players it seems in the NFL that cant' find a job that has the talent IMO to be in the league... NBA... you either are in the league or are complete garbage.

Well the reason that this is true is the same reason we actually have a team right now (over expansion/diluting the talent base) so you can only complain so much about it.

Oh and did picking up Lance to wave some towels kill our remaining FA budget?

so how many teams does the NBA have compared to NFL and MLB? even NHL i guess too. I just think the talent base is so immediately limited do to the nature of needing to be generally speaking 6'6 or better.

We attempted to go after Oden with the $2.65 Million Room Level Exception. So we can offer that and minimum contracts. The current roster stands at 13 so we have 2 spots left, but Lance Thomas is set to take one of those spots. So Lance Thomas and another minimum guy, or Room Level if anyone is worthy of $2.65 million.

Yea maybe

Lots of good 6, 5'11" athletes running around in other sports

But I think you could argue that basketball is just different than any other sport. It's the most "individual" team sport, if that makes sense.

You can just plug some dude in at right guard or something in football and he can be decent and no one would notice any difference. You can't take at guy and replace your PG and there not be any huge difference.

But I agree that there is never anything to chose from FA-wise. But that makes it even more fun for the fans when we make a few exciting signings in the off-season.

Well if the list I posted above is the best available, I guess we'll pick up some back of the bench type for the minimum.

I guess it was Oden or nothing

What happened to this guy? Wasn't he a starter for Portland a few years ago and was pretty good?

If we're going that route we should go young with Aldrich. Przybilla is one of those guys that has been trying to hang it up for a several years but the money is too good to stay away. In the last 4 years he hasn't played very many games.

The team is going to spend that money on a cup of coffee at Dot's Diner.

I think Demps is targeting wing help or just training camp/practice bodies esp with reported interest in Al Harrington. I wouldn't mind James Johnson and Lance on minimum deals. Save exception.
