If you change some facts from a comic back story the vast vast majority of viewers either won't know, or they won't care. They know what they see on the screen.

which means 100% of the people who saw Blade knows Marvel was the source of the movie. So yes they know it's comic.

Changing the character's history or traits to a significant point? Yeah that is an issue with moviegoers. Look at IM3 and the shite it took because of Mandarin. Look at the shite MoS takes because of people's perception of the Superman (Donner/Byrne based). If the end product betrays the core of the character, it doesn't matter if the film is good or not. When you adapt a comic to the big screen, the core must be intact. A black Batman takes away from that core.
I can honestly say Elba wouldn't be a good Batman, because Batman isn't black and being a WASP is crucial to the character. His family built Gotham City-a major US city for generations. They were the good people of Gotham. Bruce was on track to be entitled kid-was also thought to be an aloof playboy in some takes and a active CEO in others became a good a man as his forefathers who are all white,despite public perception of him.*
The moment you make him black, you take that core characteristic, and turn into the black struggle OR you paint it as a black Wayne family built the city of Gotham-is unbelievable,even for a movie in "heightened" reality. It simply doesn't mesh with the early beginnings of this country.
Black Americans didn't possess the wealth it required to make establish the Wayne empire-and that is ESSENTIAL to Batman.
*Which is my biggest gripe with Nolan's trilogy, he isn't Batman for his parents or until he finds happiness, he's Batman for Gotham. That flame is eternal.

No, it's not.
This is one thing where change would be a disaster and should never happen. It would never be taken seriously by anybody, even black people. It would be the butt of a shite ton of jokes and a shock to the system. It would be so politically correct even for Hollwood, people's head would spin. Warner Bros is not going to risk the backlash and miss out on profits just to play a little social experiment they know will fail.
What if they made Storm from the X-Men white or Nick Fury back to white? I wouldn't take those movies seriously at all and think they're absurd and I would be in the majority on that opinion and you know it.
You're a moron for thinking a black actor for a role like Batman is a good idea.

I don't think changing nick fury back to white would be a big deal. Changing storm would because she's African. I know there are some whites in Africa but not many.

Opinion's are like a-holes but this is so spot on it's almost factual.
Of the examples listed, they were a shock to the system and betrayed the source material. A black Batman would be the biggest and most indefensible shock to the system and biggest betrayal of the source material we would ever see. It would take a long time for the character and DC Comics to recover.

Except the major studios that own (or now own) the actual comic companies. They absolutely care about the comic books-it's how they print the money!

Word of mouth? that all starts from the "fanboys", once they bash it (for example at Comic-Con) the movies aren't well received.
"Fanboys" reactions make or break the perception of the movie. If the fanboys takes issue, the general consensus follows.
"Fanboys" are the only reason this genre has taken off and the studios care more about them than mindless public who likes the general idea of a summer movie. The details are what make or break a comic movie.

In the alternate Ultimate Marvel universe, Ultimate Spider-man is now half hispanic half Black. His name Miguel Morales. He's a good character as a legacy hero and has teamed up with the Parker.
Pete Parker is still the main Marvel Spider-man (although it's actually Doc Ock right now-don't ask,but it's awesome).

They are the reason that Man of Steel went the way it did and that's because fanboys were pissed with how Superman Returns went and the fanboys actually made DC go in a different direction with Superman as a response to this reaction.

Yep.
They have us to thank for awesome movies like the Avengers, Iron Man franchise and Nolan's Trilogy.
