Obviously, Athens is out. Don't necessarily want to stay in Atlanta proper.

What are other areas that might be available? I'm not an OT Baller, so Four Seasons Atlanta is out.

TIA

NE Gwinnett County would be your best bet, then.

The Hojo in Athens has some availability. It's the only one I see that does in Athens. $200 a night for Friday and sat night.

Buford should have plenty of hotels and has easy access to the highway.

Anything between Buford/Lawrenceville and Athens via 316 is going to be in the middle of nowhere.

Commerce, GA is decent. It's about 25 miles away from Athens. It is right off I-85 and they have plenty of restaurants and a very nice outlet mall.

We stayed at The Bulldog Inn, in college...It was God awful and I had to go to the hospital when I got back to BR. (Probably from too much party) but I will never return.

That's because Athens itself is in the middle of nowhere.

Stone Mountain Freeway (highway 78) area is another option. Closer to Atlanta than Commerce area if that matters to anyone.

Not alot of inbetween stuff. should be some motels up on I85 that will let you drop south about 20 miles to Athens. If those are full, however, you'll have to retreat to Buckhead (inside the 285 perimeter to find anything really decent. If you've not made the drive, traffic is terrible between Athens and Atlanta. Give yourself 1.5-2 hours to make that crummy drive. Parking in Athens doesn't exist unless you get there early. There's a high school about a mile away where you can park and tailgate for $15. It's awful.

There may be a few hotels available in Winder, GA (it's about 30 minutes West of Athens)

There are also some hotels outside the Loop (10) off 316 in Oconee County (Athens proper). I think one of them is a Springhill Suites.

What's so awful about it? It's right off Milledge where the sorority and frat houses are. It's a cool spot. But it's no further than this:

Most people don't realize this, but the East Campus Deck near Ramsey is free of charge on gameday. It's the only parking deck in Athens that doesn't charge you at least 20 bucks to park. You have to get there really early though because it fills up with those of us who are aware. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to Sanford, and tons of tailgating goes on in East Campus nowadays. It's right behind the railroad tracks also. It's a bitch getting out after the game though (but what isn't in Athens on gameday).

I know it's about an hour and 15 minutes from Athens, but we stayed at the Residence Inn in Buckhead for 99/night for the SECCG. Great area and great price for a hotel with free full breakfast buffet, parking, and wifi. The price is usually around the same when and where you find one.

It also appears they have a couple more of them near Duluth about 45 minutes away.
