Picking a Bone with Fish Tacos

Fish tacos are delicious, which is one of the basic tenets of humanity, so nothing new to any of you.
Now, to me, a proper fish taco is smaller portioned, served on a corn tortilla, GRILLED. From there you can get creative with your sauces, greens, and toppings.
But what's with places that insist on beer-battering fish on fish tacos? No, sir, I would not like bread on my bread. Yes, I do realize my complete double standard when it comes to sandwiches (fried fish, chicken, shrimp, hell yes).
But fried fish on a fish taco is a no-no in my eyes.
What say you, FnD Board?

I actually like them grilled or fried, it really depends on my mood.

Wow, just made a mess of these for lunch actually. And yes I agree I don't want my fish fried if it's going on a taco. Season it with salt and lemon pepper, or a spice mix, then cook it in a pan with canola oil. Put it on a toasted, buttered CORN TORTILLA with some slaw, cilantro, pico. Delicious.

You must have a tiny sphincter.

It's just easier to cook for the restaurants. IMO. I agree, no fried fish on a taco for me.

Exactly.
The beet battering weighs down the dish, IMO.

my ideal fish taco:
flour tortilla
1/2 in. cubed yellowfin that has been soaking in lemon and orange juice for two days
topped with shredded cabbage (sprinkled with vinegar)
dollup of sour cream
c'est bien bon, cher

I like them with grilled or fried fish. If the restaurant decides to fry the fish, it better be crispy and well seasoned and not soggy and bland.

I don't know about the flour tortilla or sour cream, but I do love some shredded cabbage for a nice crunch.

flour tortillas are only good for burritos & quesadillas .. or tacos with a really sharp-edged meat, specifically fried chicken tacos.

I like grilled or fried fish tacos on flour or corn tortillas. My favorite are the delicous ones. Way better to eat than the crappy ones.

Who makes a fried chicken taco?

I want to disagree, but I can't.

This is just wrong. The awesome ones are way better.
