Anyone heard any news on this apparently Crowe said they would film in Scotland this year but there is no information to support this claim. Would like to see a sequel and go more into the story!

I agree it could have been done better but I still enjoyed it so I would like to see what could be done with the sequel!

first was meh.

it started out with the right idea but by the end was a mess of garbage.

I also despised making Maid Marion a f-ing warrior.

Why the hell does every medieval-esque tale now force the woman into being a badass now?

I have no issue with female fighters when it makes sense but Marion has always been the classic damsel in distress. At best she is going stab you in the neck if you try to rape her. Putting her in full knight gear isn't empowering to women. Its lazy arse writing and a pathetic attempt to pander.

Man I liked the first movie and would enjoy a second. Sure some things were not to be desired but I thought it was one of the best Robin Hood movies ever made.

As far as I've seen or heard, there is no Robin Hood sequel planned for the immediate future - and thank God for that. Ridley Scott completely ruined what would have been an original idea when he took over the project. The film was originally going to be called "Nottingham" with the Sheriff playing the good guy for once. I believe the premise had Robin Hood being wrongfully accused of a murder and the Sheriff of Nottingham being the one who has to prove his innocence.

Sounds like he did his best to save it. That just sounds awful.

The first one was o.k. but you'd expect a little more humor and maybe stick closer to the actual RH myth.

The movie was about aligning troops to fight the french amidst political intrigue in London. WTF. That's not Robin Hood.

If you had read the script you would think otherwise.

There is no exact time frame, person, or even "actual myth," that coincides with Robin Hood. The "legend" is made up on different accounts of a curtain man "robing from the rich and giving to the poor," and that portrayal didn't become popular until the 19th century. The first few accounts of a Robyn Hode the man wasn't even a archer or swordsman. It also wasn't until the late ballads and stories that he became a noblemen.

Here's a blog article explaining the evolution the Robin Hood screenplay went through.

I would hope so. To me if you're going to turn The Sheriff of Nottingham into the protagonist, then I wouldn't have Robin in there at all. Let him stand alone and try not to confuse your audience. Not in a intellectual way but a: you've grown up always knowing this is the villain and you already have that attachment morally and emotionally.

Have you ever seen the play Wicked or read the novel? Nottingham is basically a Wicked take on the Robin Hood legend. The story is told (sympathetically) from the villain's point of view. It was a great script and there was a huge, and I mean HUGE bidding war for it in 2006. But when Ridley Scott got his hands on the property he was on an archery kick and decided he wanted a film with lots of archery.

I've never understood this mentality some directors have towards source material and scripts they are hired to direct.

if they want something that changes everything so much they should write their own f-ing original screenplay.

Yeah, I see that now. The part where it said the Sheriff would be chasing himself, now that I like.

Studios are still operating under the belief that it you fire a well known director with a reputation for being competent at his craft, that no one else will board or that waiting for an equal director will hurt their bottom lines.

Hollywood is slowly moving forward to a writer's game. Hopefully it stays that way.
