re: 2 YO Best Man passed away two days after wedding; follow up story

I had to shut my office door to read this because I'm tearing up. I cannot imagine this type of event in my life and I'm not sure how I'd cope. Don't apologize for posting, I'm upset but glad I can speak with someone who's gone through this.

If I can ask one more question, did they ever determine what happened? I know SIDS can be a multitude of things, but sometimes that can say it was an underlying heart issue, genetic issue, etc.

I'm originally from SC and that's where we were when this happened. I mention that only because in SC if an infant dies unexpectedly they have to send them to a forensic pathologist to have an autopsy performed. Had they found something..anything that could have been what caused his death I think that it would have cushioned the blow by a very small increment. His autopsy, though, was completely normal. No abnormalities found and the etiology unknown so his death was attributed to SIDS.

Thank y'all for your thoughts..y'all may think that it could be of little comfort to talk about this here because all we know of each other are words in a box that we post but it does help. Tremendously so.

Carolina Girl, you are an inspiration. How you could go through that and not lose it completely is beyond me. Your resolve and strength is unbelievable. Hard to genuinely wish could things to one I dont know personally, but I really do wish that for you and your family.

Exactly my thoughts. Not knowing has to make this so much worse for you. A friend of mines wife miscarried well into her pregnancy and the tests showed no abnormalities. She expressed the same thoughts you had, they just wanted to know why and sadly will never know.

You sound a whole lot stronger than I think I could be in this situation.

I read the story about this little 2 yr old on Facebook earlier this morning and cried while here at work.

I have a 3.5 yr old and a 7 week old and early death, whether from disease, SIDS or any other cause is truly now my worst fear in life. I just couldn't imagine not being able to see, hold or talk to either of my boys.

Now I come here and see your posts and it's got me balling again. Luckily, I'm assigned to a somewhat secluded area of the plant today.

You and your family have my deepest condolenses and I'll make sure to say a prayer for you in hopes of guidance and support in these upcoming days.

Wow. I don't think I could handle something like that. Anonymous random internet poster here who truly hopes you find some peace. If anything, hold on to the fact that you got 7 months with him before he moved on.
