Recently moved to New Orleans and I'm having difficulty finding a list of the food trucks here. Can anyone give me a breakdown of the New Olreans food truck scene?

What area are you in ? Most trucks stick to a routine with the occasional event and food truck round up.

Edit: google my house NOLA for events.

Rendezvous usually gets La Cocinita.
Rusty Nail usually has a truck.

The best idea is to google the names then "Like" them on Facebook. You will get the updates on their schedule.

That's what I was going to do, but I couldn't find a list of all of the names of them. I found a few, but I'm not sure how many there are.

Thanks

That area has a good amount of trucks with regular spots. On a Friday/Saturday night places like King Pin, 45 Tchoups, Ms Maes, Bon Temps, RDV will normally have food trucks. Skillet, Foodie Call, Taceaux Loceaux, La Cocinita are all regulars in the area. I'd use social media to follow them. The my house NOLA round ups are a great place to check them out. It gets trucks in areas they normally don't go.

Dat Dog on Freret has a food truck roundup now that the new ordinance is passed. I think it's the first Monday every month.

The only truck I know I'd Fat Flafel.

One of my favorites is Foodie Call, which is usually at Rusty Nail.

That's slider shak. May be the worst food truck in town. IMO.

any of you guys in computers/IT? how hard would it be to create an app that uses information from all the food trucks' Twitter and Facebook to provide a map of where they are at any given time?

That would be awesome. I'm sure there's a model for this that exists in other cities.

It does, and there is one for NOLA it just sucks. Or at least it sucked a year ago when I downloaded it.

The food truck coalition was attempting to do just that...but the website doesn't contain much info at all. LINK /

I have a Lucky Dog app on my phone. It shows me all the stands around the city. Pretty sweet.

Now that you mention it, I remember having it briefly as well. It was completely useless.
