So, I'm building a 4'x8' ground blind on skids. I was wondering id anyone had any tricks or ideas that have worked out. How did you do the windows? Doors? Shelf on the inside?

I was planning on doing plexiglass sliding windows, and a 12 volt battery with a solar panel, so I can plug in my phone, or a small heater.

Any tips would be appreciated. TIA.

Also, pics to follow.

Not for me, for my kids. I have little ones that go, and the more comfortable I can make them, the longer they will stay in the stand.

Yes. But, I'm no master carpenter.

Caulk and spray foam will be your friend. Try to keep it as tightly sealed as you can to help with keeping little creaters out as well.

Keep the phone out of the stand. Best thing that ever happened to my hunting was when I started leaving my phone in the truck.

Just my opinion but 8 feet long is too long. If you are sitting on one end and see deer thru the window on the other end, its not gonna work. I hunted for years, with my daughter, in a 5x5. Much easier to stick the barrel out of any window

Insulation of some sort to keep noise down. Also, if the kids are going to be hunting it make sure the windows are low enough for them to be comfortable to shoot out of them.

8 feet is long, but with 1 grown man and 2 kids, we fit. Sometimes, it's 2 grown men and a kid. We have two other stands that are this size, and one that is 4'x6' foot, and it's too small.

Dang straight. It's not a hunt anymore without participating in the IST.

1. Check on the height of the bottom of the window to make sure it is comfortable for you to rest your gun on. Put padding on it so it is quiet when you get ready to shoot. Make sure the top of the window is higher than your scope.

2. Make the sides of the window as close to the stand corners as possible. the reason for this is so you can view the sides and front by just moving your head. If the sides of the window are 8" plus from the corners you will have to move your whole body to see these areas.

3. I like to build shelves along the window on my right side "I shoot right handed" one to keep my binoculars, range finder, etc. and a second to support my right elbow when shooting.

4. put carpet in the floor to be a little more quiet.

5. make the roof wider than the stand so if hunting in the rain the water won’t drip in the windows when open.
