Yesterday a good friend of ours fell off of a boat. Everyone on the boat was drunk. None of their stories of what happened really match up, but the best I can gather is that she was standing on the bow, the moron driving slammed the boat in reverse causing her to fall into the water, then slammed it into forward (apparently was so drunk he didn't know she had fallen in) and ran over her. She sustained horrible injuries from the prop (broken shoulder, broken hip, broken ribs, collapsed lung, her spleen was sliced to pieces, etc)

These are the least graphic pictures.

If you could see her back, it's a miracle she's still alive. She was nearly cut in half

Wow....definitely a great reminder of the dangers of boating and drinking. I can't believe she survived that. Good luck to her.

He's was in jail as of early this morning. They were holding him in case she didn't make it. She's not out of the woods, but she's in stable condition in ICU. The biggest concern is infection with the deep wounds and internal organs being exposed to lake water. She's had a couple of surgeries already, but is going to need several more.

She won't soon forget that little lesson nor should the driver. Can we assume he ended up with a conversation involving law enforcement?

Yes, see above. He was arrested for boating under the influence and was being held pending her condition.

Wow, not many things make me cringe but considering we were just boating yesterday and kids were swimming too close to the prop (engine off of course) it got me. It is so sad to hear of a good day gone bad. Considering her spleen was lacerated she is very lucky to be alive.

100% wrong on the driver so don't give me shite for the following

Just being on a boat comes with some responsibility IMO. If you plan to get falling down drunk I don't need/want you on my vessel. I'm saying this because I have been the guy driving the boat and not one person on board to tie us up to a dock as we approach.

Prayers sent. It's a horrible accident. Really put things in perspective for us here on the ob. When you have someone on your boat or car, you really do have their lives in your hands. Everybody says, "this will never happen to me" until it does.

I agree 100%. That's a big reason why I quit partying at the lake. A lot of people don't understand the dangers of being fricked up on the water.

It amazes me that there aren't more people killed/badly injured on Lake Hamilton every year. There are 100s of boats in a small area with people roaming around on the sand bar drunk. Many times I've seen people walk right next to the motor of a running boat.

Hope the driver gets lots of time behind bars and gets his azz sued. That is horrible.

This can easily happen with sober people. Hell, I fall out of my boat all the time sober. Boats are dangerous as hell.

Not saying the guy driving should be exempt, but her being drunk and riding where you're legally not supposed to ride while the boat is underway also contributed to this.

Everybody in the boat is at fault IMO.
