I recently switched employers from a large company with a group health insurance plan to a small company with no group plan.

Last year I had some test by a cardiologist for an issue I was having. I was given a clean bill of health and have not been back to a doctor since.

We found out yesterday that I was rejected coverage but my wife and four boys were approved. This was through Coventry, and I wanted to see if I am screwed. I've been told that once rejected, you will never be able to get insured again.

I am 34, so I have a long road to go...

Any advice?

Do you have a pre existing condition for which you would be denied?

Also, if you have proof of credible coverage within the pass 63 days you cannot legally be denied insurance coverage, regardless of any and all medical conditions. When did coverage end on your previous EGHP?

I would also recommend calling Coventry. Seems odd they would deny you for no good reason.

I am not sure what the cardiologist put on his report, but they are denying me based on that. I have a certificate of credible coverage with a 5/31 end date. Coventry will insure the rest of my family with in the 63 day window, but Denied me.

My condition
was similar to vertigo. No medicines or no follow ups or symptoms since last year

Is this what the affordable care act is going to prevent? If so, am I going to have to pay an arm and a leg for it? I am signing up my wife and kids so they are covered and then I have a temporary catostrophic high deductible plan for 3 months. Maybe in the mean time I will be able to figure out what to do for me.

I have yet to see any truth come out of the ACA that was spewed out by the Demadont's when they swept the legislation through just to see what was in it. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Negative, what you are saying only applies to group policies not individual ones, and they will rate the shite out of the group with a high risk member.

As obamacare trickles in things will change, just be ready to pay for the change ........and everybody else

You will be covered under ACA, on 1/1/13. Sign up on 10/1.

This is a great benefit for you under the Act.

Caps have been removed.

Kids covered through age 25.

Preventative care.

There is a flyer published by Kaiser Family Foundation #8429 at the KFF website.

Have you been sleeping through this?

Try a 3rd company? That stinks ... rejected for an issue that is no longer an issue???

eta: Humana and Aetna might be possibilities ... good luck.

Go to Healthcare.gov and fill out an application starting Oct 1. It will be illegal for insurance companies to ask medical history.

Maybe call them up and getting a letter from the cardiologist stating it isn't a pre-existing condition and that it's resolved.

This is my fear. Going to a company that doesn't provide group plan. I don't have a dangerous condition at all that should alter my life span or medical bills more than any other person, but I visited a cardiologist for weird palpitations and was diagnosed with benign PVCs. Insurance companies still shite a brick though and either quote me something ridiculously high or flat out reject me because I saw a doctor.

So, what's the lesson here? Don't go to the fricking doctor, apparently.

I'm far from liberal, but the hardcore conservatives who stick their head in the sand and say coverage is available to people are full of fricking shite. I have no dangerous condition and yet can't get an individual plan, thus being stuck with the same employer and praying nothing ever happens.
