Culliver: completely sober says if there are any gays in this locker room they need to GTFO, aint nobody got time for that
No punishment
Riley Cooper: wasted drops a few n bombs and threats
Career fricked, forced to go to sensitivity training
Why wont the NFL protect gays?

The NFL hasn't punished Cooper.

Culliver got plenty flack then the Superbowl overshadowed the story and nobody cared anymore. If Cooper was playing the Superbowl tomorrow he'd get some cover too.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the words used and EVERYTHING to do with skin color.
Riley is white, therefor he deserves a more strict punishment according the American media and their agenda. Kobe used a homophobic slur (which absolutely nothing is stronger than the gay agenda that the media has been pushing) and it was all but swept under the rug simply because of skin color.

Basically Stern >>>>>>>> Goodell

100k is chump change in the NBA and especially for Kobe.
The media didn't try to destroy him and his reputation like they do a white player using the same or other offensive words.

100K is a big fine even if he can afford it.

Because there was no gay NBA player for them to ask how they felt about what Kobe said. If 70% of the NBA was gay it would've been handled differently.

Lets just say it: homophobia is much more acceptable than racial abuse in America today, particularly white on black racism. orders of magnitude more acceptable. racism is one of the biggest taboo areas in society. You just can't expect to say stuff like that in public and get away with it.
Is that a double standard? I'd say so. But the I'm against homophobia as well as all forms of racism.
I don't think this makes Cooper unlucky, more just Culliver lucky in that homophobia isn't such a charged issue, and that there are many more people who find Culliver's views acceptable than Cooper's.
If there's any element of bad luck to coopers story it's that I suspect the word he used gets used on the training field and field of play from white guys to black guys much more often than people realise.

White people are held to a higher standard.

There is a double standard. Everyone know this, Cooper knows this. It doesnt even aggravate me at all compared to the people who dont realize it or continue to whine about it incessantly.

It is still illegal in most states for homosexuals to even get married. America still has a long way to go as far as acceptance of homosexuality goes.
Makes sense that something such as racism which has long been admonished in the US is seen as worse.

First off Riley's career isn't fricked. Second both things that those guys said are really not that big of a deal and the liberal media blew it out of proportion. Yes they were wrong but big freaking deal one guy doesn't support gays and another guy was drunk and said something he shouldn't have

Just because he's black, or because hes a top-10 all time NBA player and the face of one of the most powerful sports franchises for over a decade?

Ding ding ding.
Not excusing what Culliver said or trying to demonize Riley, but playing in a sport and being in a locker room full of the people you just "offended" is a huge part of this story.

If Riley needs to go to sensitivity training, so does everyone who are outraged at him.
