Are we going to have this thread for every single position, and every single time not have OP mention that it's by WARP, and not just a ranking of the players

Come on OP

klay thompson is wayyyyy too low, the guy is a beast, he's better than danny green, put klay thompson on the spurs and see how he performs.

Edited OP for you Danman, and your overwhelming knowledge of the game of basketball and analytics. And if you don't think that Beal and Ginobili in top 5 for WARP next year is dumb, well, I don't know what to say.

I'll await your next enlightening post.

What a shite list.

No Jimmy Butler? All Monta Ellis does is shoot, and miss most of the time.

To me it's:

1. Harden
2. Wade
3. Curry(If you count him,hes a combo imo)
4. Kobe
5. EG
6. Klay
7. Beal
8. J.R
9. Ginobili
10. Waiters

Tyreke plays 3 position so hes tough to figure out.

Where to even begin with this list..

Danny Green is not a top 10 SG.
Bradley Beal is massively overpraised in general, but #5 SG is ludicrous.
Lou Williams should be #10, if on the list at all.
I'm a big Ginobili fan, but he is entirely too high at this point in his career.
Klay Thompson and DeRozan are top 10 SGs
JJ Redick should have at LEAST been mentioned.

Dude, the author of the article even says this ranking is simply based on WARP projections-not his opinion on who are the best 2 guards in the league.

Even when Harden falls into #2 here, he suggests that Howard will propel James into MVP contention.

quote:

The Mayans, Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce would all agree that projecting the future is an inexact science, even if science is the basis of your forecast. However, one precept that is undeniable is that things change in the sports world, and they change fast. Age, athleticism, skill and luck, these are not static concept

In short, a year is a long time.

If one doesn't hold WARP in high esteem, these projections don't hold weight. I am willing to bet that most of this board hasn't read the WARP explanation

ETA: As far as Manu is concerned, apparently he is an outlier in this projection system who's production alters from up/down every year.

FTR, I don't give a damn about these projections, but if they turn out to be fairly accurate, this is a thread with good bump potential.

Danny green overrated
Eric Gordon injury prone
Ginobili not what he used to be
Monta Ellis can't defensively challenged

Where is tyreke evans? If you put danny green on a list like this, then why not throw evans name in,

You can't accurately rank Gordon because of his injuries. While he certainly has the talent to be a top 5 SG; all the talent in the world won't help if you're on the bench in a suit for half or more of the season.

Do i have some contrversial choices? Maybe but after a certain point it's a bit of a crapshoot.

The talent at SG isn't what it was a few years ago.
