I've been watching LSU football in a form that I can remember for 35 years and he's the most dynamic player I've ever seen

Not mad, I'll always appreciate his 2011 season here

Great instincts and the best nose for the ball that I've ever seen. He is a game changer.

That first pic was awesome! Stopped on a dime, sidestepped receiver and caught the ball. He knew the receivers route.

Teams are going to regret taking a chance on him early, but he probably went to the best team for him. Happy to see him succeeding.

neither PP7 nor Mo Claiborne could have defended the passes that TM7 gave up in that game.

I'm dedicated to posting this in every thread where the idiocy of the SECr is even obliquely referenced re: Mathieu's coverage skill.

The guy was recruited precisely because he was a MONSTER covering guys.

quote:

Tyrann Mathieu from New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine doesn't have any offers and there wasn't much known about him before today but don't be surprised if one is on the way from Tennessee. He was unbelievable in pass coverage. As a pure cover guy, I just can't imagine how a kid could have had a better performance than he had today. Doesn't have ideal height but he has awesome hips and ridiculous makeup speed.
- Barton Simmons

Read the contemporaneous report.

The SECr hated him because he was the Derrick Thomas of turnovers.

0 Touchdown passes and less yards per attempt than Clint Moseley had against that defense. He won the game, but let's not pretend five field goals and a Trent Richardson touchdown after we went for it on fourth down was because he was a Brett Favre/Joe Montana/Troy Aikman/Peyton Manning hybrid.
