It's AL-only keeper league. I received an offer of Leonys Martin ($3) from the first place team, for Mariano Rivera.

I've proposed to another team, Wil Myers (my team) for Manny Machado. Still waiting, 3 days now. Myers and Machado were both $9.

Thinking I do the Martin trade only if the Machado one is accepted. Thoughts on both?

I kept Middlebrooks into this year and that's worked out badly, Machado would have me set at 3rd. We have 4 OF spots, so getting Martin would help there and I could focus on other options.

Not too familiar with what kind of impact or help Martin would provide me. I know there are some Rangers fans around here, or at least people more knowledgeable on Martin.

It's not like you can keep Mo anymore...

Right, but my question is if Martin is worth a keeper? I don't want to be the guy who keeps Jamey Carroll just because he's $1.

I picked him up for a little while and he held a descent average and stole some bases, but then he got cold and I dropped him... Not sure on his value in a keeper league, so I guess I'm not much help

Question here is are you still in the hunt? If you are, you'd probably be more inclined to keep Mo for the stretch run. If you aren't, in his prime, Martin should be a 12-15/30 SB guy if the Rangers are fully committed in developing him. You should also shop him elsewhere first before you decide to settle for Martin... if you are selling out. He's has Starlin Marte-ish upside(with a higher average lesser power potential).

The move looks lateral but I may be more inclined to keep the young third baseman over the OF. This deal is more of a personal preference thing.

These deals two deals shouldn't really hinder on one another.

Yeah... I'm not really close this year. I need to check our league trade deadline, maybe trade Rivera to the 2nd place guy or flip Martin to him for someone else (because he'll lose Nelson Cruz) if there's anything of keeper value on his team.

It's been pretty ugly this year. Whenever I research shite before the draft, I do bad, whenever I know nothing I do well.

Pitching has been a major weakness, James Shields is my top starter. I overvalued the potential for wins with how their offense has been. Brett Anderson has been hurt, he was a keeper this year. Vargas got hurt, I've stashed Pineda and Feliz as probable $1 keepers for next year. And Ryan Dempster... doin' his thing.

The offense has not so much been a problem. I got Fielder, Trout is a keeper for 2 more seasons, I got Myers, Zobrist... Jeter too, but that didn't work out so well.

My team is so dead this year, you're right, one trade shouldn't hinder the other.
