When is it time to freakin cut bait on this guy? Tons of money to eat but I don't see any upside to having this guy on the team or in the lineup.Maybe as a pinch runner or defensive replacement but haven't beem impressed with his outfield abilities this year either.

I remember the first week of the year when Barves fans were jizzing their pants over him. Multiple people, including myself, warned you not to get overly excited. I made the mistake of having him in fantasy baseball for a year. NEVER AGAIN. Sorry Barves fans. Gotta cut and run with him imo.

Unfortunately I think if we ever do cut or trade him Justin will intentionally tank until he is also cut or traded. We sadly are stuck with BJ if we are to keep Justin happy.

seriously though, I'm not. I just chimed in with what a bunch of people, including other Braves fans said. It's frustrating as a baseball fan to see a guy with a lot of talent suck so bad

WTF would you do with em? Stick em back at the top of the order and put em a CF when he comes back.
WTF is the upside for this guy or having em on the team?

You gotta fricking answer?

He has over $63 million left on his contract over the next four and a half years.

He will likely be given at least through 2015 to figure things out.

You can maybe relegate him to being a defensive replacement in the playoffs if he doesn't get hot down the stretch here, but we are not close to a situation where he is in danger of being traded or released.

Bottom line, he will be the Braves staring center field the next 3 or 4 years at minimum.

You aren't seriously suggesting the Braves release a player they just spent $70 million on, are you?

Kneejerk reactions. It's why he's on the interwebz and Frank Wren is making the important calls.

No kidding, dude needs to get a grip. We have an 11 game lead, bj could pretty much take a dump in the outfield and I wouldn't care. Only thing that matters is what he does in the post season at this point.

Yep. Kept waiting for him to come around as a Ray, but he never really did. Was pretty happy we didn't re-sign him, tbh

BJ was pretty nails as a Ray in the playoffs. Hopefully he can do the same here.

Very true. Especially during his 2nd best season back in 08.

ETA: I almost forgot how good he was in those playoffs. Hit 7 HRs in the first 2 series after only hitting 9 all year. Ridiculous.

Are you asking or telling, because you either used the wrong punctuation or the word "gotta" improperly.

And the answer is that he's owed a lot of money and it makes zero sense to release him.

The upside to having him is that he'll return to the power hitting, base stealing threat he can be.

He obviously won't give you much in terms of getting on base, and the Braves are likely paying for his downturn, but he's still a very good defensive CF.

He's also been a dangerous hitter in the post season historically.

If he can turn it on in the postseason, then all the money will be worth it. The Braves obviously don't need him to get to the postseason but they probably do need him to win in the postseason.
