Today on Sirius 91 Chris Childers asked Houston Nutt who had a shot at knocking Alabama off of their pedestal and actually defeating them in the NC game. Not just getting to the game as in Notre Dame but defeating Bama.

I'm not quoting him but Coach's Nutt's first response was, "don't sleep on LSU". He said he has seen Mett in Junior College as well as last year and the kid has the potential to be very good. Coach Nutt thinks Cam Cameron can take Mett to another level and said the offense will be good. He also thinks the defense will be fine; basically said to "trust Chavis" and the players LSU will plug in.

The Nutt knows...

He gives all the credit to Saban for what he has done but said it is so hard to go undefeated and win it all. I know Bama has not gone undefeated in either of its last two championship years but they are picked to just about steamroll every opponent, blah, blah, blah.

He then mentioned TAMU, Georgia and South Carolina. In a nutshell he was saying, don't give the crystal to the Gumps just yet. I like that he went to LSU first.

The Nutt knows...

As a coach who has faced both of these teams his confidence in LSU is heartening.

I take more stock in what a current or recent SEC coach says than, say, Kirk Herbstreit or Lou Holtz or any of the other retarded analysts on ESPN. But we will know for ourselves soon.

Good post.

Though you may catch flack for this error.

My point is that the chances of a team winning 3 in a row and 4 out of 5 in this day and age are small.

Agree completely and this is what Nutt was referring to.

Can't wait for the season to start.

I wonder to this day what happened with Ole Miss in 2010 and 2011. Houston isn't the greatest coach but he isn't that bad either.

What are you waiting for? Trying to keep your post count down?

What do comments like this even mean?

Unless he's the next RG III, that's probably not optimum.

Childers is an idiot! Loves bama. No one wants to admit they have had an unfair advantage with the schedules and bama refs.

Did Houston Nutt watch the same games last year that I did?

Mett was worse than terrible last year

I guess he's just trying to be nice
