What's your choice when drinking an ipa after cutting the grass/at the beach/etc, when you don't necessarily want a hop bomb?

The local grocery has red hook long hammer IPA's for $1.99/bomber, and it seems to do the job. My other go to daily ipa when I want something hoppier is SN Torpedo IPA. I would try Founders all day ipa, but at 10 bucks/6 pack, I always buy something stronger/hoppier.

Probably too choppy for this thread, but I'm a huge advocate of Southern Tier's 2X IPA. There's always some in my fridge and if I can't decide what I want I'll grab a 2X and nurse it until I come to a decision.

I was going to suggest the Founders All Day, but....

While it is not an IPA, I really like the Sierra Nevada Summer Lager. It is like a lager should be.

I also like Red Hook Longhammer and Sierra Nevada Torpedo. They're go to IPAs for me. St. Arnold Endeavour is good too and not a hop bomb. Although I ended up drinking three or four bombers of that a couple of years ago while watching a Final Four game and that kinda soured me on binge drinking them. (Kinda like when I would go out 10 years ago and drink pints of Guinness and smoke for hours and feel like garbage the next day)

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is good for a bit of hops without being too heavy.

SweetWater IPA is nice and aromatic and "only" 6.2%.

I don't, I usually go for something like a saison, a blonde, or a homebrew

Sweetwater does have more grapefruit/citrus flavors than pine, making it more refreshing at the beach, but it still weighs in around 7% abv.

This is the answer, if you are addressing the "cheap" portion of the OP. I've gotten fresh 6ers for $5.99 this summer.

I'll say 420 and Parish Envie. Also I would throw out Live as a consideration.

I was shocked to see this going for $9 - $10 a 6er when I was down in Baton Rouge. That is absurd in my book for a pale ale.

SweetWater IPA is 6.3%, which is on the low side for most IPAs. But it packs a ton of that grapefruit/citrus aroma and flavor, which is why I love it.

Founders All Day IPA is great at only 4.7%.
