When I first started gaming as a kid on Satellite internet, my ping was 2500. It's literally a 2 second delay on anything.

But now my ping is 25.

29 to what ? What are you pinging ?

whats the best and most accurate way to test ping then? whats the best server?

You could try pingtest.net or speedtest.net to have it ping the closest server to you, which may give you a general idea of what you're dealing with. It's mostly useful for a baseline measurement. For example, when I had U-Verse, it has inherent latency because it was an interleaved connection. As a result, the lowest ping I could get out of all the servers tested was about 30ms. When I switched back to cox, my lowest ping was 4ms.

But it doesn't tell you much about how your gaming experience will be. You have to open up a game, browse the multiplayer servers and sort them by lowest ping. It'll be different in each game depending on the location of the servers. Even though I could get 30ms pinging an Atlanta server through U-Verse, I seldom found a multiplayer server with a ping under 60-70ms. With cox, those same servers are now pinging at 25-30.

When I play BF3, my ping is great although it doesn't give me a number. When I play Warfighter, it provides a number for my ping. The best ones I usually can find are 54...every blue moon there's one in the 20's.
