I'm thinking of getting out of the house and driving over to the NS this afternoon. What are some of the better fried seafood places around Mandeville, Madisonville or Covington that are open on Sunday?

End this thread now and report back with your review.

Peck's is closed on Sundays, per their website. Went to Rip's on the Lake. Had the fried platter. It was average and everything could've used more seasoning. I didn't want anything too fancy, because I looked like a bum today.

Enjoyed the little trip. Being a transplant, I've never been in that area. The Northshore is beautiful and a nice break from the city.

If you're just looking for fried seafood check out Crabby Shack (used to be the old Coffee's Boiling Pot) in Madisonville. Keith Young (of the steakhouse) opened this up a few months ago. I went once and it's a basic fried seafood menu but they do it well.

Also Buster's Place in downtown Covington is pretty good as well

Late to this thread so it wont be helpful, but...

Peck's has the best fried seafood on the Northshore IMO.

Ponchartrain Po-Boys is pretty good as well.

Haven't tried Crabby's yet.

Yeah, we only stumbled in there one Sunday after church by accident a couple years ago.

Decent place though. Shrimp are always cooked properly, crab cakes are good and their burgers are decent and they always have some kind of beer special. Solid place to spend an afternoon, but not what I would call a "MUST HAVE" type spot.

It is a SOLID spot for sure. It is down the street from my office and we hit it up every few weeks for lunch. Everything they serve is of excellent quality.

Not any more but it's too late now. Yeah Rip's is very average and overpriced.

Very snamll portions. Pecks and New Orleans Food and Spirts in Covington platters huge. The Rusty Pelican has good fried seafood to but I love their Hamburgers. They are the best on the NS right now.

Peck's needs to answer their phone. I tried to call 3 times on the chance they were open. No one ever picked up.

I won't be making any special trips to Rip's. Although, the front porch made for a nice setting.

In downtown Covington (Boston Street, I think), there's a place called Buster's Place that makes the best fried oyster po'boy I've ever had. The oysters taste incredible and they're piled so high that you can't even close the sandwich.
