With the looks of '15, Warren Easton seems to be producing some top flight talent. WR Tyron Johnson can possibly be the top WR of the '15 circuit. LB Authur McGinnis currently holds offers from A&M, UCLA and Miss St. ATH Deshawn Capers-Smith holds offers from Texas a&m, Missouri, Utah, and Texas Tech.

What are some other schools that are starting to upswing in terms of producing some top talent?

Redemptorist seems to be my school on the heavy decline.

It's no secret, but U-High is producing major recruits on a yearly basis nowadays

Yeah I was reading a thread earlier in the week about Calvary Baptist. Thanks for the reminder.

No secret at all. That's why I didnt mention them

I guess its fair to say Karr is on the upswing, considering they are producing much more talent than they were.

U-High definitely goes through waves of talent. A good buddy of mine graduated in 2008 over there and I don't think they had a D1 football signee any of the 4 years he was in HS.

Shreveport (Woodlawn) could be considered on the upswing.

2014:DB Donovan Wilson

2013: DL Christopher Robinson (USM signee)

2012: LB Torshiro Davis (Texas)

2011: crickets
2010: "
2009: "
2008: "
2007: "
2006: one Grambling & one NWSU signee
2005: crickets
2004: crickets
2003: crickets
2002: crickets

Going by recruits pulled up under "Shreveport" in Rivals database

Did Evangel recruit all of their good kids away from 2002-2011?

Fixed the Santos Ramirez error. Thanks for the correction.

This is just a trivial correction, but Santos Ramirez was at Captain Shreve and not Woodlawn before transferring to Evangel.

I was about to ask the same thing. I thought it was Captain Shreve as well.

Obviously karr has been strong the last few years. I think all of the river parish schools are trending downward compared to where they were 5-10 years ago

I'd say:

Up- Calvary, U-High, Karr, St. Aug, St. Pauls, Curtis, Easton, Dutchtown
Steady- Evangel, Rummel, WM, Neville, WJ, Zachary, ESJ
Down- Shaw, Redemptorist, HC

Just to name a few.

Glad you mentioned Curtis. Sure, they've always had Tulane and UL-L talent, but here lately, they've been producing serious SEC level talent.

Dillon Gordon
Duke Riley
Malachi Dupre
Kenny Young

I know I'm missing some...

Previously, McKnight was about it in the last 8 years or so. Robbie Green doesn't count...didn't do chit.

For Curtis, this year there are probably 4 guys who will sign major D1 scholarships while about 6-7 may get D1 offers. Top guys this year are Young, Dupre, Alexander and MgGraw.

Also, Curtis guys who signed with BCS schools the last 4 years include: Duke Riley (LSU), Dillon Gordon (LSU), Torrey Bell (MSU), Walker Ashburn (Nebraska), Jonathon McKnight (Arizona), and Luke Charpentier (Arky). Also, about 15-20 are currently on D1 rosters.

Yep. I guess I need to specify I meant more recent SEC level or elite talent. I went to Curtis in the 80s, and although they were winning state championships left and right, I can only remember one elite level player there during my time. Michael Stonebreaker...went to ND and eventually the Bears. Kurt Russell was also very good, but wound up at Houston after recovering from the stabbing at Melia's bar (with Stonebreaker). Reggie Dupard was before my time...early 80s.
I believe there was an RB that went to Michigan in the early 90s from Curtis, but as you pointed out, here lately, they're loaded with major D-1 talent, if not elite. Guys like Gordon and Riley aren't elite, but they're SEC level talent.

I think you'd be surprised. I felt like Gordon, even being in Tommys weight room, still had a ton of room to grow as an athlete when he left Curtis. I thought he still had a ton of upside which is why LSU wanted him. And don't be quick to say Duke wasn't elite. The kid was ridiculously fast for his size, hit like a truck, and most importantly never backed down from competition. He made guys around him better because he did so much work.

Oh, I hope they light it up at LSU. I meant elite as in offers from the big players and elite coming out of high school. Trust me, I love it when LSU signs Curtis kids. The only kid from my class I remember playing at LSU was Tommy Fabacher (JT's current son in law), and he walked on IIRC. He did play some on ST. As an LSU AND Curtis guy, I'm loving this.

Dutchtown high has got to be top notch. Not only produced two first rounders in last NFL draft. Lacy and Reid (no high school ever has had two players from same team go in NFL 1st round in same year WOW)..also produced state of Louisiana's overall number 1 prospect 2 years ago...S Landon Collins(bama). And for '14 class wr corey McBride and rb Torrance Mosley have hopped on with the razorbacks.
