Beltre is gonna get killed by the new era of 3rd basemen much like Trammel got killed by the new generation of shortstops who dominated the game after he retired. The baseline is going to change on him. Cabrera is putting together a Hall of Fame career, but Machado is just starting his career. David Wright is the best Mets player in generation. Ryan Zimmerman would have gone down as the best National ever if Harper didn't show up. Longoria is a star in Tampa. Clearly, not all of those guys are going to the Hall, but they are changing how we think of 3rd basemen. I think Beltre will have some serious trouble unless the Rangers win the World Series.

Mauer has a higher 7-year peak than the average HOF catcher and is 9 WAR away from the average HOF catcher total.

And he's been the best defensive 3B in baseball for a decade.

He's got the 9th most WAR of any 3B ever and will probably finish his career right around Brooks Robinson.

+1. He is the guy no one talks about that I think has a great case. You never know when a guy will lose it but his numbers right now are impressive. Scott Rolen will not get in but will get support and Beltre's numbers are much better than his. Throw in that he is also a great defensive player and I think he'll get in. He is young enough to put up a few more good seasons and continue to accumulate stats. It is very likely he hits 400 hrs and 2500 hits even if he were to fall off a cliff (production wise, not literally) today.

Mauer gets on base as well as anyone. Just because he only one season with 28 and his second highest is 13 does not mean he is not HOF quality. It was looking a little shaky when he was injured a lot for a bit there, but he is a generational and should be up for consideration.

I believe 200 wins is going to be the "New 300" with the way starters are managed and bullpens are used.

Does Utley have the longevity to get in? No doubt the best hitting 2B of this generation and he was great in the field. Great power and very efficient base stealer. From 2005 to 2009 he OPS'd .922. But he hasn't played more than 115 games since then and he has just 1300 career hits. No MVPs to help his cause.

Utley's numbers look a lot like Brandon Phillips, he just 3 years older and has 3 less gold gloves. And I've never considered Phillips HOF material.
