Per athlete:

(in thousands)
SEC - $163
Big 12 - $131
Big 10 - $116
ACC - $103
Pac 12 - $102
Big East - 102

Per Student:

(in thousands)
Big 10 - $19
Big East - $17
ACC - $15
Pac 12 - $14
Big 12 - #13.9
SEC - $13.3

That about sums it up.

Report also dismissed that winning on the football field gives the University any prestige whatsoever.

Flutie Fator: "While strong athletics programs are thought to improve universities' standing through increased visibility (called the "Flutie Factor" after the famed Boston College quarterback) the report says the effects are exaggerated, short-lived and limited to football."

No wonder no one else can compete in athletics with us. They don't want to pony up.

Not according to that report. It's a limited number of schools that are self sufficient. The majority of them have to subsidize their athletic programs.

All I see is that the SEC is more concerned with safety than the other conferences by ponying up the money to aid our athletes.

But they need to start paying athletes because they don't have the opportunities regular students do to work

Yep, only a select few football programs are self-supporting...and almost no athletic department is self-supporting...receiving funds from all over to pay for the athletes to entertain and build statues and argue nonsense.

The belief that college sports are a financial boon to colleges and universities is generally misguided.

Although some big-time college sports athletic
departments are self-supporting—and some specific
sports may be profitable enough to help support other campus sports programs—more often than not, the colleges and universities are subsidizing athletics, not the other way around.

There's about 20 schools that are self-supporting upon last count...and that includes still taking "student activity fees" from students - and counting that as self-supporting and not taking it from the University general fund.

LSU, Arkansas and Alabama are the only SEC schools who claim to be self-supporting but don't take student fees for revenue.

Student Activity fees count for 10% of all total revenue for Miss. State and Auburn takes about 5 million. So 3 schools in the SEC don't bilk their regular students to pay for athletes.

SEC is still the worst offender with student fees.

Big 10 - almost no school takes except Illinois and Iowa...about 0.5%.

UF is not self-supporting, but we have the greatest athletic department in the country and one of the best public universities in the country

You're in the worst conference depending how you look at it...based on the above.

Guy in bar with a Tiger bait T-shirt...cool, go celebrate.

Or;

Student looking for a future and a degree that means something.

Well I got a degree, and a job in the field that I want, and went to the school I've wanted to go to forever, and got to travel around the South partying my arse off and watching football, and I don't have bitter hate towards other schools/conferences for odd reasons....
So I win again

And the fact that we spend more on student athletes has nothing to do with our athletic programs bringing in more money? Lol backwards cause/effect
