Seriously, 8 years for that cash?

A four-five, even six year deal is bearable, but 8 years?

I'll give it to you that Soriano had 3, arguably four good years for the Cubs. Also, considering the talent on these last few teams, his bat was a "star."

How about in the 6 games in the playoffs for the Cubs??

29 PA
3 TB
1 walk
8 strikeouts
26 outs

I know what you're doing but on the off chance you needed clarity I'm referring to trading off pieces. Before last year it wasn't uncommon to see us as buyers at the deadline.

But way to pluck low hanging fruit.

I don't hold his contract against him. It was a terrible contract the day we offered it.

And you must then dislike just about everyone on those playoff teams. After all we didn't win a single one of them.

I guess you're right about that, but what I don't appreciate is his unwillingness to get traded.
This year, he has 4 btw

10/5 rights. He earned them.

If you wish ill for the guy there it is. Refuses a trade to the giants last year. They win a ws. I expect he feels stupid on that one.

Aramis Ramirez went 2-23 with 2 BBs in those six games. What's your point? The whole team sucked.

why? I can't have an opinion about a guy that I don't think was worth the pathetic contract we paid him? are you serious?

8 years and $136 million great job Jim.
Pump the breaks, that's not Soriano's fault. That's Jim Hendry's fault. Don't be mad at Soriano for getting paid. He was never going to be worth that salary, but he did get a bad rap from fans including myself. I hated his contract and that stupid hop in the OF. Other than that, I can't complain.

Hope he is getting traded... Been better later, But still pretty terrible. Too much of a free swinger, bad defensively, and didnt always hustle, (bothers me the most)

He deserved better than what he got from some fans. Best of luck to him

I am just as guilty as anyone. The contract was terrible the moment it was proposed. The guy was a productive hitter, who got a little better defensively, and by all accounts was a well-liked and very professional ballplayer. You always miss a guy like that on your club no matter how many zeros are on his check.

Hold schierholtz and de jesus? Lol

people wanted to hold Soriano for sentimental reasons and now these two? If they aren't part of future plans you roll the dice and hope you hit on a prospect.

I seriously wonder if the people that make comments like this even watch the Cubs play. He played in 889 games as a Cub and had 898 career hits and 181 homeruns with the Cubs. He hit 32 homeruns and drove in 108 runs as a 36 year old last year and has easily been then the Cubs best hitter this year and I believe still leads the team in stolen bases. He isn't the MVP but to say he is pretty terrible is ignorant beyond comprehension.

Obviously you pay close attention. Theo has made it pretty clear he wants DeJesus around.

Why you would you dump two veterans playing well on a cheap contract? They will not get anything out of those prospects in return.

You need to hold a few guys to help the young ones learn the ropes. Plus, they are fine in a platoon or as a fourth OF on a quality team. Why trade for the sake of trading?

Frickin incredible. Game 1 Sori's HR was 10ft to our left. Game 2, went early saw both teams take BP, sat 2 rows behind Cubs dugout with some cold beer next to some spectacular cleat chasers. Game 3, said frick it and watched at home. Had too much fun Game 2. csb.
