You are correct, especially in light of the kick-azz performance the defense displayed in that game.

Might want to check out the three and outs in that game too

If I see a HB Toss Dive this season, I will know Les is still calling some plays.

That just might be the dumbest comment in this thread.

that's a good thing because we don't have a player named Persay. I wish we had a Persay Harvin, though.

Does this mean that the game was a team loss and not the sole responsibility of one unit? Nooooo that can't be, can it?

I know it's a dumb comment. I have just always hated that play and would like to finally see it go away with Cam.

I guess some of you are right. The head coach should have some say in play calling. But you can't sit here and tell me you've been happy with a lot of the play calling. Also, Miles influence on play calling is very vanilla and at times like we are trying to run through a brick wall over and over again. I wish we would go back to the skyler green Dwayne Bowe screen plays we used to do and get our players in space. Like that's never been said before though lol

OMG!! You are right. Passing is the ONLY way to score.

I was just trying to point out the 85% "scoring" stat can be deceiving since the original remark was made about our red zone offense. As posted earlier our TD Ratio is horrible. With our stable of backs last year we rushed for 21 TD's in the redzone, but only threw for 6 TD's. I think it is safe to say our offense was lackluster inside the 20 last year, but like every year we always have good kickers on the squad to make our efficiency look better.

This thread is about play calling and unlike most on here i don't think he has called nearly as much as people say. People like you won't agree because you are more worried about getting a point across then researching before you make an ignorant statement like above.

Good point as usual. LSU needs to pass more, like say.........Tulane? Don't they pass a lot?

Miles play calling strategy is "Run it again".

They run a running play for 6 yards, then he quickly yells "run it again"...they run the same play for 2 yards. 3rd and two. Sack. Punt.

you know we passed it more last yr than any year since 07 right? so even say we passed too much and mett took too many sacks. which was obviously miles fault our OL starters got hurt and backups were thrusted into starting roles.

No, but it explains losing to Clemson

you watch the D in that game? oh no right, the D never falters bc miles is an offensive coach, got it.

So CLM has admitted calling the plays for our offense the past few seasons....

Well that answers one of our questions going back to the BCSNCG, Clemson debacle and at Florida last season.

agree with our TD % being low.

as long as WR drops, bad throws, and injuries are factored in to those numbers and it's not 100% playcall.

but for some its "narrative narrative narrative"

I don't care how much or how little influence Miles has in the offense as long as we are winning games and in the SEC/national title race at the end of the year. He is the head coach, and he has every right to insert himself as much or as little as he wants to.

As an LSU observer, it appears to me that if we had just a tad more efficiency on offense, we might just be unstoppable. But you never know what kind of "collateral damage" we might find in a change in our approach. If we improve our offense and it ends with 4-5 losses, I'd much rather go back to what we had that was getting us 10-12 wins.

Bottom line: win. I don't care how we do it, just figure out a way. And fortunately, over the last 10-15 years, we've done more winning than anyone in the country.

I could not care less about the stats if the scoreboard has LSU with more points than the other team when the game is over. Nor do I care who called the plays to get us to the win.

Wut? I'm not talking about passing more I'm talking about Les actually calling the plays. Sorry for the bad wording, but I think we threw enough and just didn't execute (bad throws, dropped passes, Injured O-line).

Although I did word it poorly, you did prove my point about jumping to conclusions and posting before thinking things out.

Did he say all the plays?
Is he the only head coach to call plays?
Did all the plays he call fail?
How would you know?

What about the games LSU won?
What did he do in them?
Where was he in the other games?

Thanks for playing.

With us suffering from all three of these last year, it wouldn't matter who was calling plays. Too much to overcome on the whole offensive side of the ball to be an efficient passing team.

ETA: Thankfully we had a solid D and one of the best RB groups in the country.

Lsu red zone offense lost most of the games last year

Our last two defeats came about because the defense couldn't hold leads in the last minute of games and allowed teams to drive 75 yards for the win.

Our offense had problems, but so did the defense in holding leads when the game was on the line.
