Most SNL fans probably already knew this but now it's confirmed.

Another guy who makes the terrible decision to leave SNL where he's got a solid, stable career, because he thinks he's gonna be a box office star.

Seems like a good call. He had gotten to the point where he was probably too big for SNL anyway.

And so many have made that mistake.

I'm usually skeptical of SNL alums who left too early, but it's kind of weird that he's stuck around for as long as he has. Wiig, Armisen, and Hader are all gone, and he looks out of place.

This isn't exactly Kenan Thompson (who should stick around as long as they'll have him). He's already got a good bit lined up for 2014.

I think Sudeikis will do fine as long as he doesn't take just any role that puts him in the lead of a movie.

If Lorne Michaels offers him "Maine Justice: The Movie"--he should run and never look back.

He needs to just be Matthew McConaughey's funny friend, or Sandra Bullock's overbearing boss for a while. He'll still make millions AND get to bang Olivia Wilde.

This.

He'll be fine. He'll never be a box office star but he's very good in supporting roles.

Plus movie checks>>>>>>SNL checks

What's the downside of leaving that show?

Well he's hilarious. So he has that going for him.

SNL doesn't really pay that much, by entertainment standards. He makes less than half of what Chumley from Pawn Stars gets.
