Requests for a Tech Board appear to have surpassed requests for a Music Board...

It appears that the thread requests for a tech board have achieved quantitative parity, or have even slightly exceeded, the amount of requests for a music board. Granted, requests for a music board ceased approximately 1.5 years ago after it actually opened - however, over the same period of time (~3.5 years) it certainly appears there have been more requests for a tech board.


Quick Notes:

- The total amount of thread requests for a tech board (as of 7/23/13) was found to be 28, which compares to 27 requests for a music board over a similar period of time.

- There have now been 4 consecutive years where there have been 4+ requests for a tech board.

- There have been more requests for a tech board in 2013 than there were requests for a music board in either 2008 or 2009.



This specific comparison with the music board was made for a few reasons. Despite its rather meager daily activity, the music board was highly requested for years, and after years of continued campaigning by a core group of individuals, the board ultimately became a reality. As the data shows, the possibility of a tech board has elicited a similar amount of requests over a similar period of time.

Perhaps most notably, however, is that in early 2011, in the 4th year of consistent requests for a music board, it was finally confirmed to be in the works. This was also around the same time that a Classifieds Board was confirmed.

And yet, we're currently more than halfway through the 4th year of consistent requests for a tech board, and have yet to receive a genuine response (unfortunately, comments made on April 1st don't exactly exude legitimacy...).

With each passing year, technology becomes increasingly relevant from a cultural perspective, and continually becomes more embedded and necessary throughout our daily lives. It's been shown that tech related threads are produced with exceptional prevalence on the site, and the requests for a dedicated place of discussion have seemingly fallen on deaf ears, despite the fact that such requests have been made just as frequently, if not more so, than the requests for other boards.

As with the request threads for most other boards, many of which have received responses, it should simply be asked -

Will a tech board ever become a reality?

Support for tech board.

It needs to happen. A dedicated board would bring about some really good threads, good discussion and some good posters that a dedicated board would already bring on a high traffic site like TD.
