@DickieV: Dale Brown rips NCAA investigation yrs ago on Lester Earl going from LSU to KU. If comments r true NCAA needs to be put on PROBATION!

Anybody have a link? Are these new comments?

The ncaa was out to get dale. Everyone knows that. Earl grandized things to a degree to save his own arse and regrets it. Ncaa was looking for any small reason to bury dale.

The NCAA was after Dale when he called them the Gestapo

It took them 15 years to find a sucker to go along

And 25 years after Dale Brown statements, everyone now is agreeing with him about the NCAA and its tactics

The man was ahead of his time

Well why is Vitale just now tweeting about it?

Or is he 6 years behind in his reading assignments?

NCAA was obviously too harsh on LSU b-ball and everyone knew they were out to get Daddy Dale.

Dale had let LSU basketball go to shite because he thought that he had the program on cruise control and he wrongly thought that top recruits would flock to LSU because of his past and name recognition.

When he realized that he was wrong and that he had to start recruiting hard and purchasing players again. Lester Earl was supposed to be the guy to get b-ball going again. So Dale made sure he'd do whatever it took to sign Earl, which basically included selling his soul to get Earl.

It was all a miserable fail and Dale had set himself up for the NCAA to lower the boom.

I don't remember that article either, and having read it now, I no longer consider LE a tPOS.

Americans in general are a pretty forgiving bunch, and Louisiana folks probably even more so. It takes a pretty solid person to do what LE did in writing that letter.

Also, no one's probably surprised that Coach Brown immediately forgave him. No matter what you think/thought about Dale Brown as an X's and O's guy, I think no one would argue that he loved his people, his family, his players, and LSU.

Hell, him and Coach Knight even made amends.

Shame what happened to Dale. I worked at the PMAC his last year at LSU. And I'll be the first to say I do think there was some shenanigans going on with Lester Earl. Every time I saw the guy he was in a different really new nice vehicle. lol. That said, what they got Dale for was B.S. and Earl has gone on record saying that. Dale was never as much of an Xs and Os guy, but he brought talent into Baton Rouge that could compete with ANYONE. And he also was very motivational. I hated to see it end the way it did for him.

While no admirer of the NCAA's, Daddy Dale did bring all that shite upon himself. He basically challenged the NCAA in several open forums, one being in a multi page article on his basketball program in Sports Illustrated. It was titled on the front page: "Crazy Days at LSU". But back then, challenging the NCAA was like challenging the IRS. At some point in time, both will eventually get you. Add to it that Daddy Dale did not run the cleanest program in the country. He got what he asked for, right or wrong on the part of the NCAA. One of his most widely profiled comments was when he called them Gestapo bastards.
