PS4/God of War Developer bashes Gamestop and the used games market

Weerasuriya’s solution is simple: “I don’t think we should stop used games, but we should do something about getting part of the revenue back from GameStop and places like that. That’s not penalizing consumers; they’ll still get what they want.”

Macatak911's solution is more simple: offer a $10 discount for digital games. One less copy on the market for resale. But we all know that won't happen.

GameStop is terrible. But, this is America. If consumers use GameStop, GameStop will still exist. For the record, I don't use GameStop at all. I have, but I don't anymore.

Only way I could go along with banning resale of used games is if they dramatically lowered the cost of games. The only way I justify the insane price of Xbox/PS4/CPU games is that they are covering the cost of lost sales from the used game market as is. .

Yeah I don't know a single person that uses Gamestop.
Agree with above poster, make digital downloads a bit cheaper so more people buy that way instead of hard copy.

Great point.
You mean like how Xbone was going to control used games sales with licensing thus enabling developers to get a cut of second and third party sales?

Never understood why digital games aren't discounted. Seems like they would want to promote digital copies with it giving them more control.

Microsoft and Sony should just charge $5 less for digital games than their used physical counterparts. For instance if Halo 5 comes out and after a couple of months Gamestop is charging $49.99 for a used copy then just charge $5 less for digital. Also set up some sort of rewards system for buying digital copies. I just think there are ways to counter Gamestop but it's just not being done.

I didn't make it sound any way. I posted facts. The studio he works for made a GoW game and are making a PS4 game.

No because I watched E3 and know how shitty The Order 1886 looked so that doesn't give them any credit.
