No Lester. Can you please explain it to me? What is the difference between centerfield and left centerfield? Help me understand...

Whatever you do, make sure you also fill ESPN in as well. They seem confused on the whole centerfield / left center thing too:

J Lake homered to center (435 feet), C Rusin scored.

If only we all had as much knowledge of the game as you do Lester.

Left of center and dead center are both to center field to me.

That home run was definitely left of center

We're not just going to unload sori for just anything and with such an amorphous term as 'mid-level prospect' as all that's been said I have to think the NY side jumped the gun thinking that the cubs are desparate to part with him, which I don't believe to be the case.

I've been trying to tell you guys they have been trying to dump the dude since last year. The Cubs do not have the bargaining power in any deals.

Aging OF who costs a fortune has no part of the Cubs future. They will take what they can get

You said dead center though. There is a difference between left of center and dead center

Correct, I can give you that, but the homerun was hit to centerfield. It went over the 413 mark on the centerfield wall. I would call that centerfield. Lester is just a dick and trolls every thread.

Are we really arguing where a ball that traveled 435ft went over the wall?

There's a huge wall in dead center in AZ that seperates ilright and left center. So yea it's very different to me.

He didnt hit it over that wall or off the top of it.

That's what you do when you're 9 games under.

Right he hit it like 8 feet to the left of that wall. Keep up the arguing though, you're doing really well.

8 ft to left of center field = dead center. Gotcha.

This may be the stupidest argument in MSB history.

Going to chalk this up to pure ignorance

I was at Sunday's game and Wells is pathetic. Doesn't even get set in left field, just stands there with his glove on his hip the entire game.

He's going through the motions so the Yankees could put Terry Shiavo out in left field and it'd be a fricking upgrade

I'm so tired of this formula the yankees have been using the last 5-10 years... when is cashman just going to realize that this roster is done, we might have a losing record for a few seasons, but it's time to rebuild on young talent. We can't just keep buying up all the former stars who are past their prime and signing them to way too inflated contracts.

:sigh:

Uhhhh.....

Exactly when have the Yankees done this recently?
ARod is one they resigned who had no business resigning but every other veteran signed recently has been short term and not a crazy contract.

Yankees are not paying Vernon Wells full salary, they would not pay Soriano's, Hafner is gone at end of the year, now they do have Cano/Granderson to resign at the end of the season. Probably will overpay on both

The yankees really won't pay much at all, and infact could work it out to where they actually get a credit for next year (sori is owed 18 million next year, if cubs pay all of that then they'd get a 1 million credit since tax works with the average of the salary over the period) to keep it under the luxury tax threshold by paying all of the remainder this year and having the cubs pick up next year's contract. That gives them a better option than wells and could keep them under the tax. Source-BN.

That's easy to say, i'd love to hear from yankees fan if it actually happend.

They need to sign and overpay.

If not, they have no franchise player/face of the Yankees. Plus their farm system is not rich enough to replace an entire outfield, Jeter at SS, Aroid at 3B and find a catcher
