I broke my neck back in November. I have had 3. Major neck surgeries since then. Doc said no more large rifles or shotguns. Can't shoot a bow so I got a crossbow(I know I'm a SISSY)! I am able to walk and use my Hands. I just am not near as strong as I was. I will need a shooting stick. What is a very light recoil rifle that will kill. Shots will be within 100 yards. I am thinking about just use the crossbow exclusively and keep shots under 50 yards. What say y'all?

The 44 is great within 100 yards and mine has almost no recoil.

Go semi-auto for less recoil than a bolt action or single shot.

+1

You can get an AR10 chambered in any caliber that uses the 308 parent case. I would look hard at getting one chambered in 7mm-08 or 260 Rem.

Or you could just get a basic 308 AR10 and get a nice muzzle break to reduce the recoil. Your ears are going to hate it but your shoulder won't mind.

7mm-08. Take to a gunsmith and have a badass muzzle break put on.

M1 Garand
AR-10
.357 mag or .44 mag rifle
Haven't actually fired this, but an AR-15 lower with a 300 BLK upper.

If you ever have to take longer shots, 6.5mm Swede.

My 270 has almost no recoil.

You could always go .243, 7mm-08, or an ar-15/ar-10.

Sorry to hear that man. Glad to see you'll still be able to get in the woods though.

I'm not sure how much recoil you can handle, but something soft like a .243 .25-06 7mm-06 6mm rem should be fine. If you need the kick all the way gone, get one of the above with a muzzle brake.

6.5x55 swede is my favorite easy on the shoulder round, but bullets are pretty hard to find for it if you don't live next to cabelas. Midwayusa.com usually has them, but not always.

Best of luck man. You have my number. Let me know if you need anything.

.300 Blackout on a Remigton 700 action.

I have one on an AR platform, but the noise generated when chambering a round freaks me out. Get a bolt action one- no recoil and similar performance woods-wise to a 30-30.

I love the 7 mm 08 and .260. Have one of each. Shoot a deer on the shoulder and you will never need to track them.

Josey and I bought varmint rifles at the same time. I chose the 22-250 over the .204 because the .204 is illegal to use on deer. Josey Wales is a known outlaw, at least in the movies. Lol

BS, they're not that bad. You should never target shoot without ear plugs anyway.

Did you ask your doc what he meant by large rifles? Maybe he is saying you can shoot things like a .22. If it was me and my broke neck I think i would stick with the crossbow.

But if you want a rifle that can kill a deer with little to no felt recoil. AR .223

Well fitting rifle in 7mm-08, with a limb saver and managed recoil loads.
