All this permanent opponent crap started when the SEC went to divisional play and certain teams wanted to keep their precious "traditional" games.
Bama/Tenn; Auburn/UGA are the two which are cross divisional games which seem to be the reason that everyone else in the SEC must also have a cross-divisional opponent. Well, all that has to be done is make certain all of them are in the same division and then they can and will play every damn year and it isn't necessary to burden the rest of the SEC with some ridiculous unfair schedule just to allow Auburn and Bama to get their way and they still get to play each other every year in the Iron Bowl.

SEC East

1-Bama
2-Auburn
3-UGA
4-UF
5-USC-east
6-Tennessee
7-Vandy

SEC-West

1-LSU
2-Texas A&M
3-Arkansas
4-Ole Miss
5-Miss.State
6-Mizzou
7-UK

Some may say that the divisions are not equal in strength however you must also consider that there will always be at least 2 SEC East teams rotating on and off the schedule every year and 3 of the East teams will be rotating on an annual basis when the SEC goes to a 9 games schedule (& it's coming). This way everybody gets to keep their precious "traditional games" and the rotation can be done in the way that everyone plays everyone on a more consistant basis.

One historically shitty team in the east.
Four historically shitty teams in the west.

This is going to go over well. Go post this on the SEC Rant and prepare your anus.

You think so? Well add UF and UGA to any West schedule for two years. Then USC & Tenn for the next two. That's what rotating on a two year basis does for your schedule.

However, the point is that if the objective in the SEC office is to preserve these traditional games then put them together or let them go by the wayside.

Interesting that you find it illogical to put the teams together but apparently its' ok to screw LSU & UF for 21 years and counting so Bama can play Tenn and the Aubies can play UGA.

On a given year, LSU would still have to go thru A&M; Arkansas; UF; UGA; or UT; Bama, Auburn; or USC anyway. You still must play East teams and you do it more often and equitably than now.

To you it makes more sense to pair off LSU and UF every year in a game in which one of them must lose early in the season while Bama is playing Kentucky or Mizzou? Man, this isn't hypothetical. That's reality right now.

But "to be the best you have to beat the best", "just win and it doesn't matter", "it's cyclical".

Or do those comments only apply in certain situations?

Do you think they are trying to have a fair schedule? These things are done on purpose, for example, they could have easily sent LSU to Kentucky and Alabama to Georgia in 2013 but they didn't.

I like it. It also fixes the silliness of the third western most team being in the East division.

The easiest fix is to only count division opponents. Let the rivals keep their games. They'll still count as far as records and Polls.

I know this has probably been discussed on here before, but Google "the roommate switch" and read up on the idea. I think it is a beautiful proposition.

Let those 4 teams keep their rivalry game and let the other teams rotate.

Why is that so hard to do?

Then everyone is happy.

As a Bama fan I would never expect you to have any other response as you Gumps have had the schedules manipulated in your favor for many years.

Last year Bama got Mizzou and LSU got USC. This year Bama gets UK and LSU gets UGA on the road.
AND, a Bama fan wants to tell LSU fans to stop complaining? Hell, that's been the problem all along LSU and other schools haven't complained enough.

Go tell Les Miles or Steve Spurrier to stop complaining. By the way, it isn't complaining when all they want is equitable scheduling. It's fairness that is being requested.

The reality of the situation is that this entire "problem" is solved if you two Alabama teams just move to the East where you belong so you can be with your beloved UT and UGA.
