Playing defense in this game is fricking hard

Especially now that everyone can do hurry up and read option so effectively. I feel like like DBs are lot dumber as I've seen guys just incredibly wide open.

My two knocks about Heisman is that players hold their blocks at an unreal rate and wr get open too easily, I've been able to overcome it but sheesh.

And I think the reason a lot of people suck at recruiting(myself included) in their first year of their first dynasty is solely because they're just not used to it. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes quite easy. I like it better than previous games too.

Finished year 2 not long ago.

I decided to start A. Jennings over Rivers because of his speed. Rivers was rated in the lower/mid 90's and Jennings in the mid 80's. I got off to a somewhat slow start with Jennings, but didn't drop any games. Once I got the hang of the read option I became a pretty dominant offense. J. Hill went down for the season pretty early, but Hillard stepped in nicely. My offense went from middle of the pack in my first year to pretty highly ranked in year 2.

My defense was dominant again in year 2. I didn't have as good of a year with Rasco, but he still tore stuff up. My defense was near the top of the nation again in year 2.

I had some tough games against Bama, Florida and Texas A&M but ended my season undefeated. I had been hoping to get my rematch with Texas in the national championship again (because they punished me in year 1), and luck fell right into my plate and I ended up playing them. It was a pretty good game, but I was never in doubt of losing it.

I started to get the hang of recruiting and ended up with the #1 overall class. I only signed 21 players, but it beat the hell out of my first year of recruiting.

In normal LSU fashion I pretty much just reloaded. I lost nearly my entire defense and offensive line, but am still pretty solid with the guys who stepped in. My secondary on defense is SICK!!!

Offensively Rivers is rated in the high 90's now, but I'm still going with Jennings. He gives me the ability to pass and run the read option. If I can get him to stick around all 4 seasons there is no doubt I will win a heisman with him before it's over.

I beefed up my schedule a good bit this year in OOC games, so it should be an interesting year in my quest to repeat.

my first game vs TCU, the opening kick R Robinson took one to the house for 97 yards.

Brazil had two PR touch downs and Robinson had two picks, one for 6.

didn't do much on offense because of the absurd special teams play that game.

how many did you sign during the regular season and how many in the off-season?

I've been playing as DC for Georgia State, and like another poster stated, I have to basically add guys to my board from adjoining states then i see which ones have the best bonuses to keep and go after. I'm also Les Miles and yeah, it really took the first year of screwing up recruiting to understand it. Think this second season is about fine tuning and then hopefully be ok for third season.

I find D is a biiiaatttcchhhh, especially with a shite team. When I finally get stops and third and long, the DBs leave 1 guy uncovered for an easy conversion. I also have a monster of a time trying to get my D player off of a block. I try using the right stick for the moves but nothing is consistent. In the old games you could use the left stick and pull back away from the blocker and get off the block.

I really haven't enjoyed this game as much, but still play for the challenge and hope that i'll improve on it. My Georgia State team improved with ratings from year 1 to year 2, but my record is worse (halfway through season). Seems like my O can never do a damn thing.

Will the CPU do any recruiting for you like past games if you don't allocate all points? I've been recruiting the whole class as the DC and wondererd if i need to just choose my D players to go after.

I wanted to turn the 1* school into a power, so i didn't leave for other DC opportunities after season 1. Hoped to stay an be promoted from within. Is it best to take the better job at higher position as a OC/DC to improve the coach then come back to small school as HC?

I believe I signed 21 in year 2. Of those 21 18 were signed before the end of the season. This is the key, because if you are going after multiple guys at the end of the year you will not get any.

I targeted about 15-18 guys to begin the season (all people that were highly interested). I then offered all of them scholarships and you may pick up an insta commit or two. Then I take my most needed guys and max out their points. Stick with them at Max points throughout the early weeks until you see you have built up a huge lead (in some cases you will never build up that lead and have to Max out throughout).

You will eventually get some of those guys to start signing. Once you do you can pick a few more guys to target and Max out their points later in the process. Go after guys who you already targeted that a school doesn't have a large lead, or find others that are very low % locks to other schools and go after them hard.

Try to get it to where you only need 2-3 guys to sign in the offseason. Throw a ton of points at just them and hope nobody throws more.

This method worked great. Id imagine its very hard with a shitty school bc you can't get instant commits and get locked out a lot more. Good luck.

Great info Dash! That's what I thought I'd learned, so guess we'll see this season.

I wish I would have just simmed a season or two in a default dynasty to get the hang of it before beginning regular dynasty.

Have to jump right into it. First thing I did when I got the game was download rosters and then play against tcu in year 1 of my dynasty. I'd rather learn on the fly.

What difficulty are you playing on?

In year 1 Blue rushed for a little over 1,000. I redshirted Hillard.

In year 2 Hill got hurt for the season about midway through. Hillard took over and combined the 2 had around 1,000. I also created and signed Fournette in year 1, but redshirted him bc the backfield was so stacked.

This year I have Hill at 99, Hillard at 94 and Fournette at 90 as a RS Freshman. Dude is going to be an absolute beast. Those 3 split carries, will Hill getting the most. I also have a rusher in Jennings. So my carries are pretty split. I have been ending with 200-250 passing. 60-80 will Jennings and Hill each. Then about 30-40 with Hillard or Fournette and 10-20 with the other.

Switching to a DB while the pass is in the air is pointless.

Can't tell you how many times my fricking DB just runs past the guy after I have hit Y to intercept or LB to knock it down. They don't do shite half the time when I press those buttons.

playing on AA with adjusted sliders.

I always rank #1 in run defense, but low in pass defense. But not this year, pass defense seems to be much better

im 6-1 w/ a loss vs Georgia.

I thought it was built this year that the DB actually has to be in position and have looked back to see the ball to be able to INT it. I believe that was covered in some of the pre-release videos. Granted, I get some and totally run by some possible INTs/big hit pass break-ups.

The re-tooling of the O just makes me feel like the field is HUGE when playing D. Of course, it's a lot tougher with a shittier team but I still get screwed with switching to make a tackle and getting off of the blockers. Game definitely has me frustrated a fair amount of the time.

I think defense is just a matter of getting your sliders down.

Mine is set up to where good offenses can make my defense really work to make stops. Playing lesser teams my defense can dominate.

I don't have major issues with DB's. I get picks when I should.
